ALT Akwaaba is an entirely volunteer-run migrant social centre in Hackney. We are looking for more volunteers to join our community. About Akwaaba: Our aim is to build community and foster care, cooperation and solidarity. We believe no one is illegal. We are committed to actively opposing racism and all other forms of discrimination and oppression. As a community, we try to make decisions collectively. We are looking for Volunteers (particularly those who speak Polish, Russian, Lithuanian, Romanian) who can make a long term commitment and attend 2+ session per month. We need help to: Run our local Sunday sessions in person. Pack and deliver food parcels on Sundays. Pick-up/drop-off deliveries with own car. Do remote admin/planning during the week. Please email volunteers@akwaaba.org.uk for a volunteer form.
We feel that as the lockdown lifts and as these movements grow, it’s time to put Demands from a Pandemic down for a while. It’s been amazing to see banners go up in homes around Ireland and the UK - solidarity with everyone who participated in these actions (2/3)
