This is why the Republic of Zimbabwe must lay a wreath at the Cenotaph in Whitehall on Remembrance Sunday. Without the bravery of many, many thousands of Rhodesians - Black, white and Asian - the Allies would have been in real trouble. We will remember them. All of them. 🌹🇬🇧
Remembrance Day 2026: there are 598 Commonwealth War Graves in 🇿🇼. Men & women from many countries including 🇿🇼 are buried @ Pioneer Mbare West Cemetery Harare, showing the painful human cost of war. Our duty is not to glorify war but strengthen our collective resolve for peace

Home after a wonderfully moving and inspiring Act of Remembrance here in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Thank you to all those involved in making this morning happen. It was the best attended since I became our MP. God save the King. ❤️🌹🇬🇧

May his memory be a blessing. What a joy he was able to know of your victory @Ojeda4America Parkinson’s is such a cruel disease and we - the world over - must do more and go further in researching a cure. @ParkinsonsUK
For years, my dad battled Parkinson’s disease. On Election Night, I got to tell him, “Pop, we won.” This morning, he passed away. A part of me believes he held on just long enough to see his son make it to Congress. He won’t be there when I’m sworn in. But I know he’ll be standing right beside me. Rest easy, Daddy. I’ll take it from here. These next two years are for you ❤️

Scott Colom, a Black Democrat, has flipped Forrest County—named for Ku Klux Klan founding grand wizard Nathan Bedford Forrest—by a 54%-44% margin. Trump won it 58%-40% in 2024. It's the county where the KKK murdered civil rights worker Vernon Dahmer. mississippifreepress.org/sco…

As Labour Coalfields MPs we are seeking to expedite the transfer of the £1.2 Billion remaining in the MPS Reserve Fund to retired miners, however we note with contempt Reform UK’s attempt to hijack this issue for the sake of political point-scoring. 🙄 Full statement below:👇

The Mississippi Senate race is an extraordinary story. If you dig up the history between the two Scott Colom (Dem) vs Cindy Hyde (GOP). This guy Colom was minding his own business and was on track to be a district judge (local bi partisan choice btw) under Biden. But Hyde Smith the current Senator wouldn't give her approval, she blocked Colom's nomination and that was the end of his district judge path. So last year Colom decided to run against Hyde Smith. He is within striking distance of becoming the first black Senator for Mississippi since 1871, and the first Dem Senator since 1989.
Extraordinarily, Scott Colom is on track to win the uncalled Senate race in Mississippi (the last margin I saw was 39 votes but the remaining count favours him, as Kornacki shows in this clip). Colom is a black attorney who ran on a "Common Sense" economic-populist platform aimed at daily life: gas, groceries, healthcare and closing hospitals, plus Medicaid expansion. He won many switchers, and the Republican vote collapsed. That’s how a race which was classed likely or safe Republican until the final week was flipped. This will turn out to be a more than ten-point swing in a poor red state in the Deep South. Swing voters are more volatile than ever, especially when they’re economically hard pressed. They respond to common sense, and they’ve decided Trump and the Republicans are not on their side. Fierce attacks on Colom’s socially liberal track record on some issues didn’t dent him. He said he was Christian and has always been “pro-life”, but that he would trust his daughters to make their own decisions.

Excellent. As I said in my speech on the Budget last week, I’m looking forward to working with the Chancellor to deliver the justice our miners deserve.
LATEST: Ex-miners to receive remaining pension fund within weeks, says Chancellor John Healey has told MPs that he will ‘ensure the full transfer of the guarantors fund’ in ‘weeks, not months’ following backlash from Labour MPs on the eve of last week’s Budget politicshome.com/news/articl…

Fab to see Sherrie and pick up a few treats (my list from the boss at home had ☕️🍫🫖on it) at Tea and Pantry on Merrial Street. One of our brilliant independent shops and definitely worth a visit ahead of Christmas teaandpantry.co.uk/ #LoveNuL 🇬🇧🌹🎄🎅🤶

That would have been an absolute disgrace.
