Our team just launched this blog to review the influence of the 45th President's twitter account as a data analytic post mortem.
This overview of the now defunct @realDonaldTrump account describes its high-level features, the first in a series of posts offering post mortem insight into its influence. link.medium.com/QKEzgBfMwdb
Oh my dear @katestarbird. You so don't deserve this. And this ironically makes the point of how much we need your research so very desperately.

Thanks to @ByBrianBennett for this piece. And, yes, I am back to being up nights.
When Trump tweets, “it makes the information world we are leaning on even more unreliable, even more erratic,” says @CUBoulder information science Prof. Leysia Palen. @palen's research shows Trump's Twitter account "thrashes" the Internet unlike any other time.com/6170560/elon-musk-t…

Things have been unspeakably difficult here.
700+ employees & 600+ students live in areas that were evacuated due to the recent fires. In all, nearly 1,000 structures were lost, including the homes of dozens of CU Boulder students, faculty and staff, and reports of other damages are expected to rise. bit.ly/3mYtJuF

I now understand the example of all the strange phenomena we encountered with @realDonaldTrump to be a sign of what is to come. If the big social media providers don't invest significant resources into managing hate speech, workarounds are inevitable, & sooner rather than later.
