We need corrective action not lamentations. @HonByamukama @mkainerugaba Kindly intervene.
Today the evening of 16th July 2026, a tragic accident involving a bus carrying pupils of King David Junior school Ndejje who had gone to kapchorwa for an exploration tour happened. At the time I write, 19 pupils are confirmed dead by the kapchorwa district hospital management. What hurts most is that this accident could have been avoided if the driver took warning by locals seriously, it's said the bus had several mechanical problems before descending back towards chekwatit where the unfortunate incident happened. It's painful to lose such young souls in such circumstances. As the area Mp of the accident scene and as General Secretary PLU, we stand with the families of the deceased and wish a quick recovery to those many who are injured and remain hospitalized. It's our appeal to minister of transport @HonByamukama and law enforcement officers to investigate the circumstances under which this accident happened and prosecute the driver. We should say no to this carelessness and I stand with the state minister for youth @MercyLakiskis, we should ensure safety of our kids because it’s the generation Below is the photo of the bus taken when it was faulty and had been parked Pole sanna to the family and the school for the immeasurable lose🙏🙏 May the souls of the deceased RIP and quick recovery to the injured Twalla Fadil General Secretary PLU

Thanks Hon.Minister for the quick visit. As govt, can u make a deliberate effort to protect our children from greedy school directors that prioritise money over children safety in these tours? @mkainerugaba
I am deeply moved by the love, compassion, and humanity being demonstrated by the mothers and people of Kapchorwa. What I’m witnessed is truly remarkable. Mothers are caring for the injured King David pupils as though they were their own children. Many have brought their own bedding and blankets to comfort the children who are nursing serious injuries Kapachora Referral Hospital, each child is being attended to not only by dedicated doctors and nurses, but also by compassionate mothers who volunteered to help, despite having no relation to the children. The same spirit of kindness and selflessness is evident at Kaserem Health Centre IV, where the community has rallied together to care for these little ones. To everyone who is supporting these children during this difficult time, may God richly bless you. Your love is giving hope to families and strength to the injured. “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” -Galatians 6:2 Let us all continue to pray for the little ones, asking God to grant them healing, comfort, and a full recovery. Hon @HonByamukama kindly come to our rescue. The contractor Stirling abandoned the site after closing the road and causing unbearable daily jam to us. Why close the road when u are not ready? No machinery on site. No nothing going on. @assempebwa
Looks like the Northern Bypass @MoWT_Uganda contractor has either abandoned the site or quietly disappeared without notice. Today marks the second week with absolutely no road construction activity on a mere 300-metre stretch that has supposedly been under repairs, though at this point, it’s hard to tell exactly what was being repaired. The inconvenience caused by this tiny section is unbearable. Imagine spending close to two hours just moving from Nansana Roundabout to Bwaise because a road has been closed with no visible work taking place. What makes it worse is that the contractor is nowhere on site and there are no signs of returning anytime soon. If you are not ready to proceed with laying the surface layers, why not temporarily open this section to the public instead of holding motorists hostage? Then close it again when actual work resumes. Fuel prices are not a joke. People's time is not free. This unnecessary inconvenience is becoming frustrating. Mpulira obusungu!

Indeed we deserve better. HE @KagutaMuseveni @mkainerugaba We thank you for your attention to this matter.
Ntungamo delivered strong results and made real sacrifices-time, travel, and money. It’s only fair we have ministerial representation to voice our needs. Give Ntungamo at least one minister. @KagutaMuseveni @mkainerugaba @JanetMuseveni

🚸 As schools reopen, we remind all road users to exercise extra caution around school zones, pedestrian crossings, and bus stops. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, avoid distractions, and give priority to children crossing the road. Let’s keep our learners safe this school term. 🚸🚌 #RoadSafetyUg

On average, a driver takes about 0.5 seconds to react after perceiving a hazard, this includes seeing the danger, deciding what to do & moving the foot to the brake. At higher speeds, this short time translates into a longer distance covered, increasing the risk of a crash. Let us observe speed limits @PoliceUg

Primary school children face daily risks on roads. Many walk long distances to and from school, often along busy highways while others rely on motorcycles without adequate protective gear. Due to their age, limited ability to judge speed and distance and natural playfulness, children are vulnerable to road dangers. This is reflected in national road crash statistics, where children frequently appear among victims either as pedestrians or passengers losing their lives or sustaining serious injuries. It is against this background that we have taken deliberate steps to extend road safety campaigns to primary schools. These initiatives aim to equip pupils with essential knowledge and practical skills to keep themselves safe. The campaign emphasizes simple but life-saving principles such as safe road crossing, visibility, and responsible road behavior. We have also distributed helmets and reflective jackets. Reflective jackets make children more visible to motorists, while helmets provide critical head protection in the event of a crash. It is important to note that ensuring the safety of children on the road is a shared responsibility. Parents and guardians are strongly urged to take an active role in safeguarding their children. Motorists and the general public are equally called upon to exercise caution, particularly in school zones and residential areas. We remain committed to securing our children on the roads through sustained safety enforcement, education and community engagement. These efforts aim to foster a culture of responsible road use and reduce the number of preventable crashes involving children. We thank our partners @itmsug for their invaluable contribution in providing child helmets and reflective jackets. Their support has enhanced the effectiveness of this particular campaign. Together, we can make our roads safer for our children because every child deserves a safe journey to and from school @PoliceUg @MoWT_Uganda @Educ_SportsUg
