Firefighters safely extricated a trapped occupant after their vehicle collided with a train near the Fallowfield Train Station this afternoon.
At approximately 15:30, the Ottawa Fire Services Communications Division received a call from our partners at @OttawaPolice reporting a collision involving a train and a vehicle at the Fallowfield railway crossing.
Firefighters arrived three minutes after being dispatched and confirmed the heavily damaged vehicle had come to rest approximately 75 feet from the point of impact. The lone occupant was trapped inside.
Firefighters quickly stabilized the vehicle and used specialized extrication tools to remove sections of it and safely free the occupant.
The occupant was extricated at 15:40 and transferred to the care of our partners at @OttawaParamedic.
An investigation involving the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, Transport Canada and @OttawaPolice will now take place.

A close family friend lost his feet in Kandahar while protecting the embedded Canadian journalist from Calgary who lost her life there. He still carries the names of all the Canadians who died that day on a bracelet around his wrist.
Canadians didn't fight and die in Afghanistan because al-Qaeda flew planes into the Canadian Wheat Board HQ in Winnipeg.

Canada clearly made a serious, good faith effort to get greater stability and market access, and remains ready to find a fair, balanced agreement.
But we are not cravenly surrendering in the face of constant economic and political aggression.
Responding to the new US tariffs with counter tariffs is exactly the right thing to do at this time.
People in the Trump Administration keep expressing outrage that Canada is the only country in the world apart from China to retaliate against US tariffs.
Damn right we are. Makes me proud to be Canadian.
