How much does it really cost to cast a vote in Kenya? @KuriaKimaniMP While the global benchmark sits at approximately $5 per vote, findings from the PIERK Consortium Study on the #CostOfElections reveal Kenya's numbers are significantly higher: * In 2017, the average cost to cast a vote per voter was $26 against a budgeted allocation of $16 * In 2022, the average cost to cast a vote per voter was $20 against a budgeted allocation of $12. Kenya consistently ranks among the highest globally in electoral expenditure. Addressing these budget overruns is critical for long-term fiscal stability and democratic sustainability. 🔗 Read the full report👉: nimd.org/publication/cost-of… #ElectoralReforms #GoodGovernance #Kenya #PublicFinance #CostOfPoliticsKE
How much does it cost to cast a vote in this country? I was trying to do a small analysis of how much it costs for a Kenyan to cast a vote in an election. In 2022, it was approximately KSh 2,600 per vote. How does that compare with the cost of casting a vote in other jurisdictions? For example, if we compare that with South Africa, it costs four times more in Kenya than it does in South Africa. This means that, at the same cost as one vote in Kenya, four votes could be cast in South Africa. ~ @KuriaKimaniMP #BungeLiveNA.

The "two-thirds gender rule" in Kenya is more than a constitutional principle, it’s a necessity for a healthy democracy. 🇰🇪 We recently convened leaders in Nairobi to stop debating the why and start acting on the how. Let’s turn these recommendations into results!
