i can’t recall where i heard this but apparently it’s for this same reason that fruit trees aren’t planted on sidewalks and stuff.. (even tho it would significantly reduce hunger in homeless populations)

fun fact abt me. I planted a lemon seed using a grocery store lemon during lockdown in 2020 & it actually grew into a tree, but I didn't know that most store lemons are STERILE and won't bear fruit if you plant them! u have to graft a sexually viable tree onto the sterile tree! +
