I really do think liberals need to freak out about birth rates. Culture is passed down, like it or not, and the forces of evil can and will produce more children than you. Those children vote, and they will oppress you one day. So we need good people to have more kids!

I’ve always despised this paper as just totally vacuous. It’s like Stigler taken beyond the point of parody. Like, no, things actually can be better. Claiming they can’t is to return economics to philosophy, and philosophy is useless.

Honestly somewhat surprised by the vitriol of the reaction here. Thinking that if something harms nobody, and makes someone better off, it is good, has always seemed like a fairly basic principle to have.
