Dr. Dre built an $820 million empire and thought a signed 1996 prenup protected his life’s work.
It didn't stop what became one of the most toxic, scorched-earth divorces Hollywood has ever seen.
Nicole Young didn’t just file for divorce; she went for the jugular. Her legal team challenged the prenup by claiming "duress," demanded an absurd $2 million a month in temporary spousal support, and attempted to subpoena multiple alleged mistresses to interrogate his private finances.
The battle took an immense physical toll. In the dead center of the 18-month legal crossfire in January 2021, Dre suffered a near-fatal brain aneurysm, forced to handle court hearings from an ICU bed while fighting for his life.
In the end, Dre wrote a massive $100 million settlement check just to stop the bleeding and buy his peace.
There was no polite PR statement. No "we remain close friends." The exact week the paperwork cleared in December 2021, Dre posed grinning from ear to ear next to giant silver balloons that literally spelled out "DIVORCED AF."

In central Paris, a peaceful march turned violent, with police firing teargas at masked rioters who threw fireworks, attacked a bank, and looted a shop. President @EmmanuelMacron appealed for calm and respect for people and property, denouncing as unacceptable the presence of people solely to cause damage.
