Inflation is caused by the Federal government spending more than it earns, because they just print more money to make up the difference. To solve inflation, reduce wasteful government spending. Your tax dollars should be spent well, not poorly.

All the jokes about OpenAI killing startups with each new release have some validity. We just removed Pinecone and Langchain from our codebase lowering our monthly fees and removing a lot of complexity. New Assistants API is fantastic ✨

Ok, now this is useful tech! ... Being able to interview anyone anywhere in the world as if you were there... ...also really cool for family members and lovers living apart. Add some AI dubbing and you can now touch the world world with your content!
Here's my conversation with Mark Zuckerberg, his 3rd time on the podcast, but this time we talked in the Metaverse as photorealistic avatars. This was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. It really felt like we were talking in-person, but we were miles apart 🤯 It's hard to put into words how awesome this was for someone like me who values the intimacy of in-person conversation. It gave me a glimpse of an exciting future with many new possibilities and fascinating questions about the nature of reality and human connection ❤ Timestamps: 0:00 - Introduction 0:52 - Metaverse 15:27 - Quest 3 30:16 - Nature of reality 34:54 - AI in the Metaverse 51:51 - Large language models 57:49 - Future of humanity

This is the 1st rigorous treatment (and 3rd verification) I've seen IMO - this is great for AI safety! It means that LLMs are doing *exactly* what they're trained to do — estimate next-word probability based on data. Missing data? P(word)==0 So where is the AI logic? 1/🧵
Does a language model trained on “A is B” generalize to “B is A”? E.g. When trained only on “George Washington was the first US president”, can models automatically answer “Who was the first US president?” Our new paper shows they cannot!

There is a MAJOR issue with the algorithm right now: It discourages interaction with smaller accounts The algorithm can destroy your reach if you interact with ONE bad account We need to be able to socialize on social media Changes that need to be implemented immediately: • Remove Tweepcred • Remove the pageranking algo that could ding you for interacting with wrong accounts • Eliminate the code that docks people for having bad follower/following ratios • Give verified smaller accounts boosts when they start rather off rather than docks, similar to another short form video platform • Give further boosts to real ID verified accounts, as you know they are human rather than bots • Open source both the front end and back end code • Add transparency to the UI so people know why they are being docked by the algo • Reward for engaging with others, rather than penalizing. This is how a social media platform remains social This is how everyone starts feeling welcome This is how you become the digital town square This is how the little guy feels like they belong This is how you become the number 1 social media platform in the world It's time for changes

The greatest man you've never heard of died this week on Wednesday, September 6th. Marcel Boiteux built the French nuclear fleet as head of national utility EdF, making superb, far-sighted decisions against powerful entrenched interests. Decisions such as abandoning the poorly-performing French gas reactors for outstanding Westinghouse technology. And insisting on ruthless standardization that allowed true learning-by-doing, with his teams completing several reactors a year for more than a decade. His fleet provides 70% of French electricity, and but for the sabotage by his weak, stupid successors inside and outside French government, it should be making half again as much electricity as the 56 reactors do today. Boiteux's reactor fleet (plus a few more units after his retirement) cost about $150 billion. Compare this to Germany spending about $500 billion on their mess of an "energy transition" which requires them to keep almost all of their coal and gas plants in service. As a young man Marcel Boiteux refused to accept France's defeat and at age 21 in 1942 as an elite university student he escaped Nazi-occupied France while escorting downed Allied pilots over the Pyrenees mountains to safety in Spain. Brass. Balls. This episode revealed the pattern for the rest of his life. After the war, he studied economics and wrote *the* foundational paper in electricity economics, on how to price electricity service in a way that covered system costs while being fair and sustainable. He completely understood liberal economics, and knew it did not apply to electricity grids and service. He built cheap power for all, then after his retirement watched as a bunch of pathetic hack economists broke the grid with idiotic "markets" that are failing all over the world. He rapidly rose in public service after university graduation, and after appointment to the head of Electricité de France, successfully built the most astonishing energy system in the history of the world, proving for all time that a country could truly rely on its own fleet of standardized nuclear reactors producing low-cost emissions-free energy. Anti-nuclear terrorists exploded a bomb outside the door of his family home in 1977 but he kept building. It must have been torture for this truly great man to watch twenty years of silly, unserious leaders damage and begin to destroy his beloved EDF and its fleet of reactors, leading France straight into its worst energy crisis since the oil crisis of 1973 that triggered Boiteux's nuclear fleet construction in the first place. But he didn't come up with the idea of a nuclear fleet powering a total electrification of the economy because an oil crisis hit. He was too prophetic to be a mere reactionary. Rather, he declared the slogan "All nuclear, all electric" months before the OPEC embargo hit in 1973. Marcel Boiteux died this week at the age of 101.

THE REAL REASON FOR CLIMATE CHANGE: The activity of the Sun is cyclical, it's NOT constant. Look into the Schwabe Solar Cycle of 11 years. Same for cosmic rays. The distance of where you are from the Sun is constantly changing because the Earth's orbit around the Sun is VERY irregular. Look at the Eddy Solar Cycle of 1000 years, the Bray-Halstatt Cycles of 2300-2500 years, then look into the three Milankovitch Cycles & Solar Inertial Motion. None of this has anything to do with humans. None of this has anything to do with CO2. The models of the Solar System you grew up believing as a child were gross over simplifications. They conditioned you to believe that the Solar system has a regular Sun activity with regular orbits, of which the Earth is one. Yet that is not the reality: not only the earth both tilts and wobbles as it orbits, but the orbit is a changing ellipse not a perfect circle, meaning the distance from the Sun is not constant. These are the three Milankovitch cycles. Then the combined mass of the planets also changes the centre of the Orbit, meaning the Sun appears to move rather than being in the fixed centre of the Solar System. This is called Solar Inertial Motion. And this is just the beginning of the story of irregularity in the Earth's orbit around the Sun, then there are cycles of Sun activity, making it stronger and weaker according to how close to the 11 year cycle of magnetic poles flip it is, next being in 2024, and how many Sun spots & Solar flares we are exposed to. Then you need to factor volcanic activity, the Hunga-Tonga Hunga underwater volcanic eruption of January 2022 increased the water vapour in the stratosphere by 10%, this in itself will cause considerable warming of the planet in most regions. It's definitely not a simplistic neat black and white story of CO2, and humans have no power to determine either the orbit of the Earth around the Sun or the Sun's internal & external activity!
