IMO the explosion of Cursor, Lovable, Windsurf and Bolt isn’t because code is the best LLM application. It’s because SWEs intimately understand the problems of SWEs. It’s downstream of Anthropic dogfooding Claude to 90% of PRs. Any other industry (law, finance, medical care) could have been domed as decisively given comprehensive builder domain expertise.

AI is about to revolutionize its own creation. 100+ elite researchers gathered for 10 hours to automate the research process itself. From algorithm generators to self-improving systems, we witnessed the birth of meta-AI at the Automating AI Research Hackathon sponsored by @boltdotnew, @gmi_cloud, and @agi_inc. Here's what happened:

Huge potential breakthrough @omniscience42: We designed a custom code-interpreter and domain-specific language for implementing & executing *fully generated* machine learning algorithms. The algorithms are contextualized through paper generation, grounded in citation search.

Automating AI research is exciting! But can LLMs actually produce novel, expert-level research ideas? After a year-long study, we obtained the first statistically significant conclusion: LLM-generated ideas are more novel than ideas written by expert human researchers.

We upgraded the book writing UI: Your previously generated books are now linked in the sidebar, and when you select them you'll be able to see if your book is in-progress or ready. If it's ready, there's a convenient link for you to jump to it!

Re-Introducing, The AI Scientist, Omniscience (@omniscience42): The world's first AI system for automating scientific research and open-ended discovery! From ideation, writing code, running experiments and summarizing results, to writing entire papers and conducting peer-review, The AI Scientist opens a new era of AI-driven scientific research and accelerated discovery. An example research paper: omniscience.tech/research_pa… Live Paper Generation Product: omniscience.tech/demo Our system leverages LLMs to propose and implement new research directions. Here, we first apply The AI Scientist to conduct Machine Learning research. Crucially, our system is capable of executing the entire ML research lifecycle: from inventing research ideas and experiments, writing code, to executing experiments on GPUs and gathering results. It can also write an entire scientific paper, explaining, visualizing and contextualizing the results. Furthermore, while an LLM author writes entire research papers, another LLM reviewer can critique resulting manuscripts to provide feedback to improve the work, and also to select the most promising ideas to further develop in the next iteration cycle. xitter.cf/JvNixon/status/1815799…
OpenAI CTO Mira Murati's quote about PhD level intelligence on r/technology has been downvoted into oblivion. (represented on Reddit as a 0 vote count) "Pretty sure PhD's need to do original research and not just regurgitate garbage they find on the internet." "Murati has no clue what she is talking about, it’s a we need funding pitch." "tell me your doctorate is honorary, without telling me your doctorate is honorary" What will r/technology do when they realize that AI can execute data analysis, evaluation, and report its results in a correct, deeply cited research paper? They'll have @omniscience42 in their crosshairs very soon. Hallucinations are a real technical problem. But generated knowledge via generated experimentation is *also real*. See "Predicting Hackathon Acceptance with Random Forest Classification: An Empirical Study". A world where a PhD can be done in a day is upon us. xitter.cf/tsarnick/status/180390…

Mira Murati: GPT-3 was toddler-level, GPT-4 was a smart high schooler and the next gen, to be released in a year and a half, will be PhD-level

We're trying to unlock a new category of thought - generative research! We see how powerful paper generation can be, and it can unlock you: omniscience.tech/research extrapolates from your every creative idea, letting you spread works of creative brilliance in a clean, professional format & grounded in abundant relevant citations.
Three JDs & Professors of Law just fought back against the @omniscience42 *AI*'s defense of *AI* in LawFareMedia: lawfaremedia.org/article/ai-… (Omniscience is linked as "critics") A lot of people will hate this, but the state of legal discourse is about to encounter coherent, long form grounded argument generation. AI powered reasoning has clarity. It has grounding in the same sources you and I trust. And soon it can be more correct than AI will come with abundant citation breadth. AI will come with vast argumentation depth. AI will meet meticulous standards of evidence. Be prepared. Mira Murati says that in 1.5 years, we'll get PhD level intelligence. But @omniscience42's PhD level intelligence is here today. Case law backed AI argumentation just works. I, for one, welcome our new legal overlords.

The intention of AI as the *truly systematic* enquiry into nature, which will internalize the processes of science & scale them to unimaginable heights, is certainly the intention of @omniscience42 & @AGIHouseSF. It will pull at the heartstrings of every great mind seeking to understand the nature of its reality.

Your first two weeks of using the paper generator are free, do try it out: omniscience.tech/research If you'd like to spend your evening reading about why stretching the Overton Window by exaggerating your positions may lead to political success, read on: omniscience.tech/research_pa… Prompt: on Overton Window stretching, and the incentive to exaggerate a social position for the purpose of creating space for correct views that were previously outside the Overton window. Make a connection by using the mathematics of the revelation mechanism & the way that 1st price auctions create an incentive to bid away from your true value whereas second price auctions incent you to bid truthfully, showing that for collective beliefs based on relative judgements of extremeness do not follow that pattern.

The idea: go from a description of your research results, or a question you'd like to explore in depth, to a citation-full paper draft which answers your questions and is a foundation for your work. The hope is to allow scientists to focus on generating results, not formatting.
