A convicted killer who sexually assaulted and killed one woman and choked a 15-year-old so severely that she was paralyzed and disabled for life has been granted day parole to attend law school at McGill University in Montreal while living in a halfway house despite "clinical assessments that ranked Ewert’s risk of reoffending as moderate to high." His parole petition was denied in 2022 but a court overrode it for failing to take into account his status as a person of native ancestry. Canadian law called the Gladue Principles explicitly dictate leniency to indigenous criminals.
His lawyer says "“He applied to McGill law with the help of many students, of law professors and McGill University was fully aware of his history and his status and where he comes from."

Let me translate what Ro Khanna’s pitch is:
Remember the 2020 BLM riots’ death toll, firebombed buildings, looted stores and subsequent crime waves and business flight in multiple cities?
Yeah, we miss that!
Let’s double down with higher taxes on productive capital, more redistribution, and reward youth protests so we can fund the cycle and invite more of it!
We want the USA 🇺🇸 to be be MORE like France 🇫🇷 !!!!!
Vote Dems!!!!!
From the high schools of France to the streets of Madrid to the universities of Tirana, young people are telling their governments the same thing: in an age of massive wealth inequality, they want a future they can believe in.
In France, students and teachers are asking for safe schools, enough teachers and smaller classes.
In Spain, for affordable rent and housing.
In Albania, for good jobs and an end to corruption.
@JDVance says this is what happens when a nation lets in too many immigrants from the global south.
He is not just morally wrong, but misreading the moment.
The is what happens when nations let wealth and power accumulate in the hands of a few.
This is what happens when young people lose hope in their future.
In America, let us listen to our young.
We need an economic and political transformation.

It's funny how the commies who constantly tout the evils of private property and the moral urgency of redistribution always sprint straight for the monogrammed handbags the moment the alarm goes off.
Personally, I find it hard to summon much sympathy when luxury stores get smashed and looted. Why? Because it's the same industry that constantly embraces third-worldist leftism, sustainability theater, inclusion quotas, and progressive signaling.
Recall that Vogue endorses Democratic candidates and majority of high fashion designers snub Melania Trump. Campaigns push all kinds of norm-busting avant garde ideas including open borders and BLM-adjacent slogans, while relying on know-nothing woke celebrities to amplify their message.
These brands have spent decades cultivating an ideology to appeal to a consumer class (like Hasan Piker lol) that treats property as negotiable, heritage as contemptible, order as oppression, and hierarchy as something to be dismantled. So when the mob turns on the glass and marble of their own boutiques, this is simply known as being hoisted by their own petard.
The Limoges town hall, on the other hand, is different. Its destruction is the loss of something irreplaceable, and I mourn it
UNIONS: The Democrats were once the defenders of workers and their unions. Now they're the oligarchs and elites ignoring the plight of their workers. The single worst intellectual error I ever made was discounting the need for some standard of enforcement concerning what should count as citizenship, which is the political right to participate in the formation of the rules concerning public life. As a libertarian, I never thought this mattered, which is an idiotic thing to believe. As I think back on Frederic Bastiat's The Law, this was a central theme of that book – he believed that receiving welfare should disqualify one for the franchise – a point I conveniently overlooked. This error is now the doom of Europe.

Then in the 2nd half someone decided we should be kicked out. For a t-shirt.
I didn't capture the half of it. There were so many more people screaming in our faces and saying we should kill ourselves.

I don't mean to be so bleak but I don't think "honest conversations" will work to challenge suicidal empathy.
Every institution and the culture they're immersed in echo the same lines - "they are French like us" / French history is shameful / kindness is enough / diversity is strength / décoloniser. They are repeated across public media, education, corporate brands, NGOs, and in entertainment, signifying moral status and tribal safety.
Her brain adopts the tribal consensus so it doesn't matter how many honest conversations you - as a man - have with women like this. As long as the manufactured consensus holds, dissent registers as a threat to her safety, not as new information.
The mass formation layer has to crack first - visible contradictions, institutional overhaul, the cost of the policy becoming undeniable on the street.
Otherwise, nothing changes.
You've probably seen the video. A young Frenchwoman in Paris, in tears, begging looters to stop. "Why are you doing this? That's not what we stand for."
Some accounts are mocking her. "She voted for it."
I won't. Because what you see on her face is not stupidity. It's a disease that has infected the entire West, and it has a name: suicidal empathy.
The term comes from Gad Saad, an evolutionary behavioral scientist at Concordia University in Montreal. A man who fled the Lebanese civil war as a child, and who knows what it looks like when a society falls apart. His new book, Suicidal Empathy: Dying to Be Kind, is the follow-up to The Parasitic Mind. Here is the thesis, and why it concerns every one of us.
Empathy is one of the best things about us. It evolved for a reason: to care for our children, our kin, our tribe. It was calibrated for a world where the people you felt for were the people around you, and where empathy always came paired with its counterweight: the instinct to protect your own and to recognize a threat.
Suicidal empathy is what happens when that mechanism misfires. When it fires at the wrong targets, in the wrong amounts, with no brake. When we feel more for the criminal than for his victim. More for the stranger who breaks the rules than for the citizen who follows them. More for how compassionate we look than for what our compassion actually produces.
Where does it come from? Four layers.
First, biology. Empathy is a spotlight, as the psychologist Paul Bloom put it. It lights up the one face in front of you and leaves everything else in the dark. The crying migrant on the boat is visible. The thousands of future victims of a broken system are statistics. A spotlight is a terrible tool for running a country.
Second, our own civilization. The West is the civilization that put the victim at the center of its morality. Christianity taught us to care for the stranger, the poor, the weak. It was one of the greatest moral revolutions in history. But cut off from its other half, justice, responsibility, the duty to protect your own, it turns into something else.
Third, ideology. In The Parasitic Mind, Saad described idea pathogens, ideas that hijack our reasoning. Suicidal empathy is the emotional counterpart: an ideology that hijacks our compassion. It sorts the world into oppressors and victims, then demands unlimited empathy for whoever ranks as the victim, whatever they do.
Fourth, status. In the age of social media, empathy has become a display. Posting "refugees welcome" costs nothing and earns applause. The bill goes to someone else: the working class, the suburbs, the women walking home at night.
The results are everywhere. Criminals treated as victims of society. Sexual assaults by migrants met with lenient sentences. Self-defense branded as aggression. Borders treated as cruelty. Saad's conclusion is simple: a society dies when it would rather display infinite tolerance than use its survival instinct.
Now the part I'll add myself, and that few people dare to say.
On average, women score higher than men on measures of empathy. It's one of the most consistent findings in psychology, across cultures, and it makes perfect evolutionary sense: for most of human history, the survival of children depended on it. It's a strength.
But it means an ideology that weaponizes empathy will hit women harder. And the data shows it: in country after country, young women have moved sharply to the left of young men, especially on immigration.
This is where men have a responsibility.
Not to mock. Not to lecture. Not to say "she deserved it." Empathy has always needed a counterweight, and that counterweight was the protective instinct: the one that draws lines, says no, and stands between the threat and the people it loves.
Men abandoned that role. They were told it was toxic, and many believed it. So they stayed silent at the dinner table, at work, with their partners, sisters, daughters and friends.
That has to end. Men have to have this conversation, honestly and with respect: compassion that cannot say no is not compassion. It's surrender. And the first to pay for it are women.
Many women already understand this better than anyone. Some of the bravest voices in this fight are women, precisely because they are the first to feel the danger in the street.
A civilization rests on a balance: compassion and strength, openness and borders, mercy and justice. When one side swallows the other, the foundations crack. What we are watching in Europe is what happens when empathy has no counterweight left.
Look at that young woman again. She isn't the enemy. She's what this ideology made of a generation that was told kindness would be enough.
Our job is to make sure she's the last generation that has to learn it this way.

FDA orders suicide-risk labeling on the drug class used as puberty blockers
On March 10, 2026, the FDA ordered makers of GnRH agonists, the drug class doctors use as puberty blockers, to add "the serious risks of suicidal ideation and suicidal attempt” to their labels.
The new wording went onto Lupron, Zoladex, Vantas and Trelstar between May and June. The FDA did this quietly, with no press release.
What the FDA did
On March 10, 2026, the FDA sent a letter to the makers of every GnRH agonist, the class of drugs used as puberty blockers. The letter used the agency's power under section 505(o)(4) of the federal drug law, which lets the FDA requirea label change when it finds new safety information.
The FDA's own words: the new information "pertains to the serious risks of suicidal ideation and suicidal attempt."
The drug makers then filed the new labels, and the FDA approved them:
•Lupron (leuprolide) injection was approved on May 6, 2026. The label now reads: "Psychiatric disorders – Suicidal ideation and attempt".
•Zoladex (goserelin) was approved on May 6, 2026
•Vantas (histrelin) implant was approved on May 6, 2026.
•Trelstar (triptorelin) was approved on June 26, 2026, adding "depression, suicidal ideation and attempt".
Three of these drugs, leuprolide, triptorelin and histrelin, are the same molecules sold for children as Lupron Depot-Ped, Fensolvi, Triptodur and Supprelin LA.
The FDA has known for years
This is not new information to the FDA. It is new to the labels of the adult versions of these drugs.
The children's label for Lupron Depot-Pedalready warns of "psychiatric events" and lists "Depression, including rare reports of suicidal ideation and attempt".
Internal FDA emails from January 2022, released through a records request and published by Just the News, show an FDA team leader describing the agency's 2016–2017 review of children on these drugs:
> "We did find increased risk of depression and suicidality, as well as increased seizure risk and we issued SLCs to the entire class for these AEs."
The same email notes that "a handful" of the children in that review were taking the drugs off-label for gender transition, and that no company had ever asked the FDA to approve them for that use.
Never approved for this
No GnRH agonist is FDA-approved to treat gender dysphoria. Doctors who give them to children for that reason are using them off-label.
The federal government's own evidence review in November 2025 found the evidence for puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones in children "very low" in quality.
The risks are not in doubt: infertility, bone loss, and now suicide risk, written on the label by the FDA itself.
The bottom line
Parents are often told that blockers prevent suicide. The FDA has now required the labels of these drugs to list suicidal thoughts and suicide attempts as serious risks.

Students supported Mussolini
If find yourself blindly supporting every student lead movement, you’ll be wrong very often, in many eras, on many issues.
A good rule of history: if you find yourself opposing a student movement while siding with the ruling class, you're wrong. Every time, in every era, whatever the issue.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Student movements have not always been on the right side of history. Mao's student Red Guards persecuted hundreds of thousands. Students helped Castro and Khomeini rise to power, and Nazi student groups opposed the Weimar Republic.
