BREAKING: Former Delta Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan Dies At 71
Former Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Dr. Chief Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, is dead.
He died on the morning of Monday, 19th October, 2026, according to an announcement by his family.
In a statement signed by Toju Anire Uduaghan on behalf of the family, the family said it is "with hearts weighed down by immeasurable grief and profound sorrow that we announce the passing to glory of our beloved Father, Brother, Uncle, and Patriarch."
"His passing has left us devastated. Words can hardly express the depth of our sorrow at the loss of a man who meant so much to our family and whose life and service touched countless others across Delta State and Nigeria," the statement read.
Uduaghan, a medical doctor by profession, served as Commissioner for Health from 1999 to 2003, Secretary to the Delta State Government from 2003 to 2007, and Governor of Delta State from 2007 to 2015.
The family described him as "a source of strength, a father figure, a beloved brother and uncle, and a respected elder," noting that his years in public service demonstrated commitment to human and infrastructural development of Delta State.
The statement added: "His passing is a profound loss to our family, the people of Delta State, and Nigeria at large."
The family prayed for the repose of his soul and for comfort for all who mourn the loss.
He was aged 71.

A memorable evening at the residence of my dear friend and brother, Femi Otedola (@realFemiOtedola), who graciously hosted Alhaji Aliko Dangote (@AlikoDangote) and me to a special dinner in honour of Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat (@drobafemihamzat), Deputy Governor of Lagos State and gubernatorial aspirant.
An evening of warm friendship and meaningful conversations. I extend my warmest wishes to Dr. Hamzat as he pursues his ambition to lead Lagos State, wishing him every success in the journey ahead.

It is (and has been for a while now) painfully obvious that Mikel Arteta does not have the chops to coach the sort of attacking football that consistently and reliably answers the questions Premier League defences pose today. Set-pieces and depth got his side over the line last season, and even that was a tortuous crawl. The floor can only be raised so much. It is all well and good talking about subtle tweaks and miniscule alterations to points of emphasis in the final third, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and the confection week-in, week-out has a distinctly chalky, mealy taste. Outplayed for an hour at home by Leeds last week, outplayed by Nottingham Forest this.

Selling Trossard and Martinelli and replacing them with only Tozolis should be added in City's 115 charges.
Unilag when I started, they didn't even wear black and white until a few years later. And the students interpretation of black and white too funny.
When I was in the Faculty, a visiting Professor from University of Ibadan came to teach for a while in Unilag's Faculty of Law. Saw the way we were dressed and complained.
Then a lecturer (now Professor Ayoade, I think) came to "clear us" final year students that we were not wearing black and white, that the lecturer from University of Ibadan was mad at us.
Students chorused, "She is from over there, Ibadan. This is Lagos!"
On the day of my final exams, I wore white shirt, blue jeans and flip flops (slippers) to exam hall. Dr (now Professor) "Akaya" became furious and started to confiscate exam questions and answer sheets of students who didn't wear white and black. 😂😂😂
Now, thank God it didn't work out
