You may not be able to manage 120 books in 2026, but you should absolutely read more than you did on 2025.

On this football fan culture convo. Everyone makes a very good point on we not being a football nation (on this i disagree 🙂), disposable income, economic realities etc.
But ask yourself, what emotional connection does an 18yr old have with an NPFL club? I've realised that we're just forcing the NPFL on football fans, talmabout "NPfL na our own"...but emotional ties needs to be forged. That's what you get in Kano, that what you got in Agege when Pillars always came to play MFM. That's what you got with MFM as well in Agege plus the church members, same with 3SC and a few more traditional clubs. Imagine how much of a connection Ikorodu City could get if they play games close to Ikorodu Garage.
The new age clubs need to invest more in this and see it as a long term thing. Credit to Sporting Lagos on this one but all clubs must invest in their community. They have to be socially responsible. In this decade, we have seen Nigerians abandon big Premier League games and watch NPFL matches in stadiums, but we lack the consistency. Reason is not far-fetched, the league organizers are yet to see this product as a Brand.
I dare anyone to recognise the NPFL topscorer if he walks past you in your area. These issues are multifaceted.
The way a lot of people talk about marriage in this day and age, you just know the institution holds no weight or meaning to them.
"grow apart"
"find myself"
Therapy-speak, word salad nonsense.
As someone who grew up with Juventus in their pomp, this decade has been very strange. The glory has completely departed. Tune in to any of their matches and, aside from the shiny new stadium, you might as well be watching Udinese.
It is (and has been for a while now) painfully obvious that Mikel Arteta does not have the chops to coach the sort of attacking football that consistently and reliably answers the questions Premier League defences pose today. Set-pieces and depth got his side over the line last season, and even that was a tortuous crawl. The floor can only be raised so much. It is all well and good talking about subtle tweaks and miniscule alterations to points of emphasis in the final third, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and the confection week-in, week-out has a distinctly chalky, mealy taste. Outplayed for an hour at home by Leeds last week, outplayed by Nottingham Forest this.
Brighton & Hove Albion have won 8 of 11 in all competitions this season, scoring 34 goals. They have been held scoreless only once: away at Norwegian side Trømso, whose goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard was man of the match on the night.
Even more impressive is the fact they are doing all of this while missing players of the calibre of Kaoru Mitoma and Yankuba Minteh.

Maja Chwalinska is the new World No.11.
She was ranked No.114 entering into Roland Garros in May. Amazing rise.
Maja Chwalinska's first WTA title is a 1000!
The Pole rallies from a set and a break down, defeating Sonay Kartal 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, emerging champion in Wuhan.
What a year it's been for her.

There is a difference between:
"I am a Christian, so I must make gospel music" & "I am a Christian musician, so whatever I make should be consistent with my Christian convictions."
Not the same.
One is a restriction on category.
The other tasks the PERSON making music. /11

Amid the ongoing debate about best-of-five sets in women’s tennis, I discovered that some fans don’t even know it’s happened before.
So, for this week’s Tennis Throwback, I’m looking back at the time women played best-of-five sets.

Deliciously fitting, at a time when the Manchester City fanbase is feigning ignorance of math, history and economics, that PSG are taking them to school on their own patch.

Not many realise this, but 'streets won't forget' is actually something of a backhanded compliment. So what does it say about Nigeria that arguably its most recognisable figure, for all his undeniable genius, is stuck in this category?

Michael Carrick's situation is surely untenable now.
The thing with Manchester United is that they need someone with a holistic vision to drag them, kicking and screaming, into the modern day and away from the clutches of the Alex Ferguson poltergeist. A dynasty builder, brimming with gravitas and brio. Carrick is not that, and neither were Ruben Amorim and Erik Ten Hag before him.

How do you punish Manchester City?
Strip their titles? Deduct points across multiple seasons? Impose a transfer ban?
I make the case for what should happen to City in this week's Premier League Debrief + an updated Player of the Year Pyramid.

Lose every currency in your pocket and come to the throne of grace with empty hands and on bended knees.
And the Father will lavish you
with wine and honey which will satisfy your soul. He will pour extravagantly on you, not because they are cheap but because Jesus paid their inestimable price tag.
