please for the love of god stop using public npm (or any package manager) for your production deployments. ffs.
mirror the packages you use and have audited.

This is exactly what many of us predicted when NPM introduced a world of thousands of separate dependencies per app. The main reactions to that skepticism were "stop being so negative" and "don't try to stop progress." xitter.cf/bcrypt/st…

just published a fairly major update to the conventionalcommits.org specification; my hopes are that we're close to a v1.0.0 of the document.
if you like conventional commit messages (or hate them) feedback is very much appreciated.

I see the biggest value in significantly cleaning up code samples (sounds small, but this helps in teaching); and in more elegant code in command line apps. CC: @littledan @JustinBeckwith. – at Oakland, CA

Ali and I were kicking around this idea of an "Open Source Trust" the other day. I look at it like a startup SaaS provider. You can buy insurance that basically says if I run out of money and have to fire everyone, the service goes into escrow with another company that runs it.

📣 Big changes this week: Our backend is now entirely hosted on @googlecloud, via @Firebase hosting! 🔥
All npm proxy requests are now handled by Google Cloud Functions, which provide an auto-scaling, fault-tolerant backend.

A lot of tech, especially in Enterprise, starts with a bunch of vendors shaking hands and putting their weight behind it to get adoption, but never JS.
JS is never the industry's first or even second choice, it's only after JS effectively wins that you see industry accept it.

🔥 JavaScript performance advice:
1. prefer `async`/`await` over hand-written promise code
2. prefer native promises over userland implementations

🚨 Zero-cost async stack traces fully functional in @NodeJS (once PR lands)! Now we can looking into enriching this further with additional information from the promise chains. 😎
Ok, --async-stack-traces are working in @NodeJS as well now (not yet in the REPL as async_hooks/inspector hooks have a bug right now related to --harmony-await-optimizations, which @MayaLekova is working on).

🔥 First working prototype of zero-cost async stack traces in @v8js (for async functions). This should make diagnosing production issues in @NodeJS and @GoogleChrome a lot easier once ready. 😀
