It’s a Latin pre-fix meaning “on this side of”. Which is the opposite of the prefix trans, meaning “across from”.

Continuing to try and let myself process and heal. It’s slow. Of course I want to rush through said process and be on the other side already. But this part is important too. Looking forward to the healing and growth to come this year. #bpd #dbt

Cis (cisgender) is to be at home in your body and feel relation to your gender identity matching that of your birth sex. Non-binary is any gender identity of relating to oneself outside of the binaries of either male or female. It is recognizing a larger spectrum of gender.
