Look what I got! It’s here. It’s real. Can’t wait to send some of these galleys out. My most personal novel ever. Grief. Monsters. Lovecraftian weirdness. Voodoo. Friendship. Murder. Old Taíno gods. August is far away, but the work starts now…

Just so we’re clear, next year you should continue to read whatever the fuck you want.

It must be said, again, that colleges/universities aren't businesses. Their purpose is to educate and to enrich society through the production and sharing of knowledge and insight, which includes supporting literature and the arts. Shuttering @GburgReview is antithetical to this.

Love a writer’s work? Tell them. Seriously. A review or an email or something on social media. Whatever works for you. Sure, some might be assholes, but most writers I know are insecure a lot of the time and hearing from readers brightens up their day.

You can do whatever the hell you want, but when it comes to writing, I strongly recommend going with the stuff that moves you. Write what you want to read. Don’t pursue trends. Don’t write what you think agents and editors want. Write what makes you happy. Always.

New interview:
"As seen in the book, I have specific memories that I knew I needed to communicate, and every time I tried through text, it felt one-dimensional. Unfinished."

Not the “send us something we’ve never seen before” and “No genre fiction; literary fiction only” right next to one another in the Submission Guidelines. 😭😭😭 Is it not time to put the “No genre fiction” to rest? Can you only write fancy if you’re writing domestic drama?
