In separate meetings with Dutch Consul General Adriaan IJsselstein and Stephan Wendt, Head of the EU Liaison Office in Erbil, we discussed strengthening our partnerships.
With the Netherlands, we focused on expanding cooperation in agrotourism and developing the skills of Kurdistan’s farmers.
With the EU, we emphasized deeper coordination between the EU, Iraq and the Kurdistan Region to advance economic development and shared interests.

Operation Inherent Resolve in Irak is afgelopen. Ruim 6.300 Nederlandse militairen hebben de afgelopen 12 jaar samen met internationale partners de terroristen van ISIS in Irak teruggedrongen. Vaak onder uitdagende omstandigheden. Hun inzet verdient grote waardering. ⤵️

Vandaag markeert het einde van Operation Inherent Resolve in Irak. Sinds 2014 hebben Nederlandse militairen onder vaak zware omstandigheden bijgedragen aan de strijd tegen ISIS en de stabilisatie van Irak - hun inzet heeft verschil gemaakt en daarvoor ben ik hen zeer dankbaar.
