Numbers are fun, but so is a video that I made without showing anyone first.
Canada, this is for you 🇨🇦

Businesses create a ripple effect of economic impact globally. But how can we measure it?
Shopify Data Science team used input-output modeling and OECD frameworks to estimate the global economic impact of businesses building on Shopify... check it out!

We are excited to announce we are partnering deeply with Muse to enable agentic checkout with Shop Pay on all Shopify stores, offering people an easy and delightful way to shop and check out with Muse.
In 1912, Durkheim described "collective effervescence": the energy of a shared ritual that attaches itself to an object so people can carry it home. Old human story, but new tools means speed and scale keeps accelerating. And it's entrepreneurs that very often turn culture's biggest moments into something you can hold.
More here in a new @Shopify story about the connection between cultural moments and commerce:

The Everywhere Edition is here: If you are on @Shopify, you are everywhere your customers are shopping.
This Edition features some key updates to Agentic Storefronts, Catalog and UCP because we want to be clear that if you want on Shopify you are everywhere by default.
Every Edition is intentionally overwhelming. It’s a celebration of the progress we’ve made each season and serves as a complete list of features for those who want to pay attention.
To make it easier to parse, I broke down some of my favorite features among the 200+ and explained some of the ambition behind them.
Old data adage, still holds true: Garbage in, garbage out. What has changed is the speed at which bad data becomes a bad outcome. The stakes for strong data foundations have never been higher.
Had a fun time digging into data foundations -- and what leading the @Shopify data team is like -- with @richierocks of @DataCamp on the DataFramed podcast: youtube.com/watch?v=0xj57nm4…
Adam Smith said specialization needs a big enough market. Jan Tinbergen said commerce decays with distance. @Shopify's data shows how those principles are no longer constraints for today's entrepreneurs.
Location used to be a ceiling. Now it's just a pin on a map. shopify.com/news/rural-comme…
Last week I shared data showing how entrepreneurship is the most future-proof job.
Today I'm sharing more about the culture and infrastructure @Shopify that allows us to tell these powerful stories with data.
Naturally, I had to fact check @Tobi on this.
The data backs him up. Check it out: shopify.com/news/future-proo…
We process 13 million gigabytes of data a day @Shopify . But the most important thing we've built isn't the infrastructure, or the data points. It's the judgment to tell the right story, and the conviction to make the right call.

Thanks to the @wesmckinn and the crew at The Test Set for the wide-ranging chat on the intersection of data culture, emerging tech, and the human element of leadership. A treat!

Built a lil cooking assistant named Sous that texts you back like a friend who happens to know how to cook and where the best recipes are.
Need home cooks to try it and tell me what breaks.🍳
Just sent out another round of invites for the beta. If you are interested sign up here: rouxlette.xyz/sous – at Brooklyn, NY

Cooking for yourself and kids is a gambit. The house always wins. And by that I mean, you make more boxes of mac and cheese than you like to admit.
It's hard enough to cook one good meal. Two different meals a night isn't in the cards.
So I built Rouxlette.
Every day it reads the best recipe sites and scores them — ratings, nutrition, prep time. Every Sunday you get five recipes for the week, a grocery list, kid-friendly notes, and substitutions. Flavorful for you, approachable for the littles.
27,000+ recipes scored so far.
One rule I won't break: publishers get the traffic. Rouxlette shows snippets only. Full recipes always link back to the source. These sites are good and I want them to stay that way.
Free right now → rouxlette.xyz

Shopify is building the foundation for agentic commerce.
Universal Commerce Protocol, which we co-developed with Google, is now live. UCP will make it faster for agents and retailers to integrate.
It’s open by default, so platforms and agents can use UCP to start transacting with any merchant. Major retailers are already using it.
Agents can handle everything from discovery to fulfillment, and support things like discounts, subscriptions, and loyalty programs. We’ve accounted for all types of commerce.
