This is ghastly.
It is also the everyday experience of low income, especially disabled, Canadians as there are NO SNAP BENEFITS or any equivalent in Canada.
People just go hungry, often go without needed medications & in too many cases housing.
No more pointing fingers at the US.

This is $1,375/month for a room rental in an apartment that's to be shared with two other people. #ODSP pays a maximum of $1,408/month ($599 maximum for shelter allowance). Hope you don't want to eat or anything. This is so grim.

This is hilarious. What we actually do--e.g., in Ontario--is give ODSP recipients a maximum of $1,408/month. This has to pay for *everything*--market rent, phone, insurance, clothes, etc. What's left to "decide what food we want to eat"?

Canada spends less per person on disability benefits than the US, has minimal RGI housing and has no SNAP program.
Poor disabled Canadians are kept in destitution 50% below the poverty line and pay market price for all their needs.
