Introducing the first open source SEM digital image capture solution, the Open Beam Interface!
GitHub: github.com/nanographs/Open-B…
Bring your analog SEM into the digital world, all over one USB type-C connection.
Taking orders now for our first batch of 6 boards, DM for details.

I'm with @Zeptobars and we're going to try a FIB (focused ion beam) edit on a @tinytapeout chip.
Here's the incredible machine that can do it...
Going live to take apart and document the Merlin FEG SEM in my studio

I’m live! Testing and setting up my new live-streaming rig and maybe poking around at the Zeiss Merlin some. Come hang out: youtube.com/live/aIrG_Z5Ki-Y…

We make it ourselves
And make the machine to make it.
Want to join?
Hiring EE, ME, Software , process engineers. We made the machine that puts atoms there, it’s laptop sized and draws 90 watts . Now we’re automating and building 10.
Zoom in ,they’re not pixels

Replying to @Fishguy_FHL
@Fishguy_FHL and I are running a bioimaging course at Friday Harbor Labs this winter! Focusing on CT, SEM, histology, photography, and more. The course is 10 weeks, 15 credits, and scholarships are available. Priority applications are due in October.

Anyone looking for a thermionic SEM with SDD EDS? Friend let me know a company in Hillsboro OR is looking to sell this LEO 1455VP with a 4 quad BSE and relatively new IXRF SDD EDS for ~$20k. Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll put you in touch. Worth it for the EDS alone.

For a quick check, hold a flat piece of aluminum foil in an ultrasonic cleaner for a minute and you can see where and how much cavitation is happening

I wanted to see where the hotspots in my ultrasonic cleaner are and which water levels to avoid to get the most even pressure distribution 😄
Look ma no chamber! Or column for that matter.
Idk what happened but someone managed to get so much dust in this microscope that when @Fishguy_FHL went to blow it out a large cloud came out of the chamber 😳. Was so bad you couldn’t resolve an image at the lowest magnification.

Just searched the whole notion workspace, "shit" appeared 54 times, and "piece of shit" appeared 25 times, 14 of which were when using the ebeam tool.
Great deal on an electron microscope here. Only one pic but it looks like it’s got everything you need and a spare column to go with it. There is an encoded motorized stage upgrade on it as well for at a minimum X, Y, and Z. Not to mention the ion pumps for LAB6 operation.
The JEOL neoscope JSM-5000 table top SEM is just too cute. They did a great job of building it like a bigger SEM, just smaller, which is not something you can say about all table top SEMs...
In case you were wondering how they developed the Tecnai it’s just all of the non micro computer bits from a CM in a box connected to a PC. Also there’s a few SMD boards here and there for the first time.
1st picture is Tecnai, 2nd is CM.
Here’s Wool vs Acrylic yarn under a SEM.
Across from us at Teardown @nadyapeek and her students brought a programmable knitting machine. So ofc we had to compare various types of yarn under the microscope.
