When Eric and I started the pump the gas initiative we got a lot of pushback, but we believed it was the right nudge at the right time.
Glad to see this fast turnaround and looking forward to even bigger increases in the future.
Just a year after the community started pushing for higher gas limits, Ethereum is now running with a 60M block gas limit.
That’s a 2× increase in a single year — and it’s only the beginning.

It’s Ethereum Day at DevConnect!
Today’s focus has been on the big three: privacy, growth, and adoption.
@VitalikButerin set the tone with a rapid 30-minute roadmap recap in the morning.
In the afternoon, @izonline, @nanexcool, @fede_intern, and @smpalladino took the XL stage.
Key trends from the day:
- Why Ethereum should move back to L1 (or interact more with it) to survive.
- Ethereum’s post-quantum edge over Bitcoin: ETH’s base signatures are hashed = quantum-resistant (though there’s still work to be done).
- "Hypertokenization" ahead → the trend is moving toward tokenizing everything…even AI.
- Argentina’s rise as a crypto hub → the country is seen as an early crypto adopter, driven by its social and political landscape.
- Ethereum needs to move faster to stay on top → gas limits should rise in the coming years (proposals go up to 100×).
