the ECDSA discovery is a clear sign we're living in the golden age of humanity, where good questions are rewarded almost for free and a perfect reflection of how in shambles everybody is is that so many still misunderstand the discovery when all it takes is one prompt to understand it

the first discovery from anthropic regarding elliptic curve cryptography shows that the scheme is SAFER than many people believed bunker mode retards in disbelief

bro this is literally good news that increases the confidence in the curves. a 48-bit prng is not a cryptographic hash. nobody broke any cryptography here, claude just reverse engineered how public parameters were generated 30 years ago. the original engineers didn't make any notes. the discovery strongly suggests the seeds don't introduce any weaknesses or backdoors, like many believed. the inputs turned out completely plausible and benign.

Unreal. Satoshi prob chose secp256k1 instead of NSA's P-256 because of this mystery - its a lot easier to just trust the number 7 (coefficient in secp256k1) than the mysterious possibly backdoored monster coefficient in P-256 now we know where the monster came from! its benign!
Claude figured out the origin of the NIST curve parameters. Turns out to have been timestamps! anthropic.com/research/ecdsa…

For consumer products, convincing the users that it’s useful/valuable was almost always harder than writing the code For pet projects, this wasn’t the case, just the mere existence of code of something technologically impressive was enough But now that anyone can conjure anything into existence, pet projects are treated like consumer projects. A repo isn’t impressive on its own

Simple privacy test: Download any crypto wallet and create a new address. The wallet shows your balance is zero. Where did your wallet get that info?

why does everybody think transparent hardware wallets are a definitive way of ending hardware level exploits? do they not know that most people will not be able to tell apart subtle PCB differences, and worse off custom clone ICs can be made?

This is very overstated and will cause loss of funds If you bought your ledger a long time ago, or you use the original Nano, I kind of doubt it's realistic that you'd be susceptible to this...
WARNING ⚠️ GET FUNDS OFF LEDGER ASAP ⚠️ I suspect an entire global sleeper operation is ready to drain on their switch. If you think these hackers just cracked one single ledger reseller you’re beyond delusional. They would have had runners loading these things across the world. Getting them in wherever they can. Even possible insider employees swapping out legitimate Ledger devices sold at real stores. There is simply no way to tell how big this is. No way to know how far they went or how long they’ve been doing this… You could be using an infected device. Consider ledger compromised. Don’t risk it. 🚨Get funds out now🚨 Warn others.

call me crazy but i actually think if you’ve been vibe coding for the last 12 months you’re at a disadvantage your expectations of what models like opus 5.5 can do are probably too low and your workflow are probably too complex for their own good you can literally just tell it what you want and it’ll do it. literally that’s it

thanks, we're looking at this but prioritizing private transfers first

After years of using Rabby, I’ve moved to @ambire as my main wallet. My main reasons are: - Much less tracking - Responsive team They’ve now also shipped a mobile wallet. What can I say... It works as expected. I think that’s the best praise. If you want to test it, DM for a code.

very cool feedback, can be summarized by: - advanced options should come with more context and gentler introduction - the legacy "Smart Account" (all accounts are smart-ish now with 7702) should probably be reconsidered - the phrase backup point is a result of a compromise, will reconsider

The cryptographic world computer: vitalik.eth.limo/general/202… My attempt to express in somewhat concise terms the true meaning of basically everything planned to happen to Ethereum starting from the fork after Hegota. It's really not just a blockchain anymore. It's a hybrid architecture that combines together blockchains and modern cryptography, to enable much more powerful properties. FOCIL, EIP-8288, Lean consensus, state management, formal verification, advanced mempool improvements (including privacy), and the longer-term specter of obfuscation all mentioned.
