History repeats itself. It’s why I always predict whats going on before it happens. We’ve been here before many times. All you need to do is connect the dots and follow the money

The laws aren’t meaningless actually. Because they include possession. And using a VPN to circumvent restrictions isn’t a β€œloophole” is actually an aggravating factor that goes against you at sentencing
There is a real problem with Mary Whitehouse bans like this. 1. Deeply tender people who have never watched pornography assume it's all sadistic and twisted, and that only absolute sickos would watch it. 2. These people moralise loudly in Parliament. They think evil men are into BDSM when it's actually more often women who are. 3. Parliamentarians who actually have watched pornography (76% of men, 53% of women) do not say what they think lest they become known as 'the porn mp'. 4. A majority of adults go without representation. 5. Bog standard face sitting or mild hand to throat stuff is banned through misunderstanding, moralising, and embarassment. But this is all academic. Since the porn laws came in, no one watches pornography from UK IP addresses anymore, so these further restrictions are meaningless. xitter.cf/i/trending/21154209133…

There should be a book called How To Piss Off Millions And Get Rich All I ever read is negative nasty comments about Lily and Bonnie but yet they are the most successful of women creators in the UK today. What does that tell you about hypocrisy in this world?

Harry Reems was paid $250 for one day of work on Deep Throat. By his own count, defending himself in federal court cost him $400,000. In July 1974 the FBI arrested him at his New York apartment and sent him to Memphis. The charge: conspiracy to distribute obscenity across state lines. Linda Lovelace and director Gerard Damiano got immunity. Reems was the only actor tried. In spring 1976, after about nine weeks of trial, a jury convicted him. He faced up to 5 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Then came the appeal. Harvard's Alan Dershowitz took it, saying no film actor had ever been charged with federal conspiracy before. In April 1977 the conviction was thrown out. The jury had been given the 1973 definition of obscenity for a film shot in 1972. He still lost. Cast as Coach Calhoun in Grease, he was dropped about two weeks before filming, and Sid Caesar got the part. In the video below, he says he was convicted of conspiracy over a film he had already sold, and: "I think I was being used as an example." Lovelace and the director got immunity. The actor got a trial and a $400,000 legal bill. Was that fair?

Traci Lords says she made about 20 adult films while underage and earned "maybe $40,000." Her tapes sold for $50 or more each. She was 15 when she started working as a nude model, with a fake ID that said she was 21. When the agency asked if she was 21, she says she answered, "Uh-huh." On July 17, 1986, the scandal broke. That day X-Citement Video owner Rubin Gottesman told an undercover officer: "We're all going to lose a pile of money on the tapes we have to trash." Distributors threw the tapes out themselves, afraid of prosecution. Two days later the LA Times ran: "Sex Film Star Not Facing Charges." Lords was never prosecuted. Gottesman was. In 1989 a federal judge gave him one year in jail and a $100,000 fine. Then came the appeals. In 1992 a court reversed the conviction. In 1994 the Supreme Court ruled 7-2 that prosecutors must prove the seller knew the performer was a minor. In the video below, she talks about why she kept her name, and what she had been through before she was 18: "I was a little girl... I'd been raped, I'd been molested, I'd been abused." She was a child. Who should have known?

The UK will ban under-16s from platforms like TikTok, Instagram and Snapchat from March next year, but how will they go about it? Ofcom has now recommended four methods it says are highly effective. The government will decide by the end of the year, but concerns remain over whether children can bypass the ban.

FSC has published guidance dealing with the UK law criminalizing certain choking, roleplay and age play content. While more detailed regulatory guidance is still expected from organizations like Ofcom, the law officially goes into effect November 6. buff.ly/5a28Rwr

When the govt pushed for age verification it was meant to be the answer to porn being available behind a paywall Now it looks like them getting a foot hold to introduce more laws A lot of illegal content I see on social media and tubesites is the real problem here

I’m probably alone in thinking the new laws coming in on Nov 6th are not well intentioned at all. Why? It has killed any authenticity in capturing real sex on video if you tell consenting people they can’t do things β€œbecause it’s illegal” But she loves it! Sorry it’s illegal

OFCOM: Ofcom was set up to regulate telecoms and broadcasting in 2003. Today, it has more than 1,600 staff and a remit that reaches deep into what we see and say online. There may be a legitimate role for tightly limited technical and economic regulation. That does not give the state a right to control lawful expression or decide which opinions reach an audience. Many would argue Ofcom’s online speech remit should be removed, and we should explicitly prohibit regulatory interference in the ranking or promotion of lawful news and opinion.

Can't believe this has to be said but adult creators do not lose the right to say no because they make NSFW for a living. Choosing this career is not blanket consent to harassment or being treated like public property. Nobody owes you interaction because they took their clothes off on the internet.
