Aha, we’ve reached the “mod loses his shit and starts adding new rules because he had a bad day, banning people who notice and posting angry tirades” stage of the webforum meltdown arc

A red flag: When your partner loves to "debate" you and these conversations leave you feeling embarrassed, frustrated and stupid. That's not a debate and that's not a conversation, that's your partner demeaning you.

Excellent reminder that cryptography doesn’t by itself solve human problems; it just shifts trust. You can’t avoid the hard problem of choosing *where* to place that trust, even if fancy cryptography is used
Replying to @matthew_d_green
What we should not do is assume that *because we’ve improved the cryptography* we’ve solved the hard problems.
Ultimately cryptography is the science of “moving trust from one place to another.” And this solution simply shifts the attacks from one area to another.

when you got all your sensors answering properly to ipmitool... Don't know if you reach nirvana, or if that is a miracle. But this is just great. Did I mentioned this was with OpenBMC on an RL300 ?

Thread time. Here's the thing about @tesla. It's not a car company. Tesla is a company that has to make cars in order to sell its real product: Emissions Credits.
Let me explain. Back in 2012, the EPA put out new, strident emissions standards for new vehicles fleetwide. 1/
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Regulatory Credits on account for a small percentage of Tesla Revenue.
2020: 6.2%
2021: 3.2%
2022: 2.7%
As of FY Q3 2022 Credits were only $287m against profits of $3.3b

Can’t believe this needs to be said, but if you’re a founder or a CEO, you own:
- company culture
- leadership hires
- business outcomes
If your company failed to build anything groundbreaking due to any of the aforementioned choices, you’re personally responsible for it.

HAS TCPDUMP EVER WHINED AT YOU THAT IT CAN'T KEEP UP WITH ALL YOUR PACKETS?
(yes, nerds, I think that's a lot of you)
Come to next week's Pigasus Developer's Meeting to learn how FFShark, an FPGA extension for Wireshark, can make your life better and do packet capture at 100G.

The post and replies are a great example of why I don’t take advice from people who don’t have ADHD. It almost always just comes down to “have you tried not having ADHD?” 🙄

This is a common tactic/belief.
The problem? It backfires more often than succeeds.
I researched it & covered it in my book. More often:
It's not the tough ones that stick around; it's the ones who have no other options.
Let's look at some history and research:

So you all remember back in 2020 when I had that thread on the cheap as chips $20 HDMI capture card that BLEW UP big time?
Well guess what? I'm back with another, this time it's next generation and better than before!
xitter.cf/Ascii211/status/126863…
Got one of those "camlink" USB converters because I was curious about em, and WHOAH I was shocked. UVC output, 20ms delay and signal looks to be properly grabbing 1080P@30. Single chip solution under a small sink and costs under $20. What in the heck is this.

Just learned that Maurice Karnaugh passed away earlier this month en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauric… While I suspect most people happily leave logic minimization to EDA tools nowadays, I filled several notebooks with Karnaugh maps when designing SERV, so his work was highly relevant to me

Also, I was told by @BlueShieldCA today that insurance pre-approval is absolutely no guarantee they’ll pay a cent. So, enjoy that, people who need surgery. Someone tell me why pre-auth even exists, especially for gender affirming care then..? Or maybe it’s just a penalty.
Rick Altherr retweeted
Apparently @ProvSwedish just doesn’t bill health insurance for “cosmetic” procedures even when they’re pre-approved. Guess what gender affirming treatment falls under? Isn’t this also a violation of the No Surprise Bills act @PattyMurray ? Looking at a bill for 50k.
