Twitter update has changed it so you can only receive DMs from verified accounts. You can fix it by going into your privacy settings! BUT. If you select “everyone” the setting automatically switches back. You need to change it to “people that you follow” and THEN “everyone.”

1. Top-Down overload or "Reddit Hug of Death": This is what Bluesky experienced today - suddenly there was a HUGE demand surge and the servers just *couldn't* for a while. This also happens after superbowl ads or when pop stars announce tours or during DDOS attacks.

It was interesting how bad it is, now what is fascinating at how effective their campaign to keep tech media from discussing those issues- even hinting at them, has been. xitter.cf/RealSexyCyborg/status/…

Ok here's a technical breakdown of why the “@Dyson Zone™ Air-Purifying Headphones” aka. the Snot Cannon aka. the Wearable SuperSpreader Event is such a staggeringly bad idea and a significant danger to public health if it is allowed to be sold. 🧵

I've got a kind of placeholder account on Bluesky, if I get enough followers I might start posting there. If Twitter isn't going to monetize my account like others there's no incentive to keep written content exclusive to this platform. realsexycyborg.bsky.social

Imagine a social network that is built in a way that allows devs to build clients & projects on top of it. And where the platform promotes these third-party solutions. A long time ago, this was Twitter, and it's partially why it became so popular. Today, this is @bluesky.
hello devs!! say hi to @atproto.com 👋 we’ll be using this account to share *your projects* that you’re building on top of atproto! the bluesky team also gets into some pretty interesting technical convos deep in the replies, and @atproto.com can broadcast that info further 🗣️

It’s incredibly rare to see a company willing hire bootcamp devs. UK mobile provider giffgaff is taking this a step further: offering to train motivated people via a bootcamp, and then hire some and invest in them. This approach is rare, as it’s a huge time investment.
giffgaff Academy 12 Weeks - Office Based (Uxbridge) The first phase of your training will develop all the skills for success as a Software Engineer at giffgaff. These include: Pair Programming, HTML and CSS, UX, React, ReactNative – essentially Javascript but the giffgaff way! The second half phase of your technical skills academy you will move on to Java, including a Java testing framework, DevOps including some focus on Environment isolation via containers and GIT as a key part of the DevOps process. You will end this section of the academy learning RESTful APIs and Event driven micro-service architectures. The third phase of your training will see you apply the skills you’ve already learnt to live projects and solving known business problems. You’ll embed your knowledge and understanding whilst preparing to transition into your full-time role as a Software Engineer at giffgaff. Our virtual webinars will provide full curriculum detail, so do sign up for more info!
