Many transcriptome regions are translated but not known to encode proteins. They remain poorly annotated and thus under studied, partly due to the lack of terminology for these features. In @naturemethods we propose using "Translon" for any region decoded by the ribosome

Several new technologies have enabled translation profiling in single cells. In our article in @NatRevMCB, @AlexandervanOu1 and I discuss these single-cell methods for measuring ribosome profiles, ribosome-associated transcripts, and spatial translation 🧵 nature.com/articles/s41580-0…

In addition to these methods to profile translation in single cells, there are also several single-cell technologies to measure mRNA features that regulate translation. There wasn’t space to go into detail, but we also included a brief overview of these methods

How does aging alter the translational landscape of stem cells and how do these changes impact their regenerative capacity? Here we developed an in vivo single-cell ribosome profiling strategy to monitor translational landscapes of the mouse skin. 1/6 biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Check out the final version of @jervdberg and @BVincentv's manuscript! I guarantee this won't be the last time you hear about scEdU-seq 🚀
Very happy our scEdU-seq manuscript is published in @naturemethods! Big shoutout to @BVincentv, @AlexandervanOu1 @marcelvanvugt, @Acebron and @Anchel_91 for their contribution to the final product! For those interested here is the link to the paper rdcu.be/dK2hL

In the second new paper from the lab, we use socRNAs to compare either single or multiple ribosomes on an mRNA and find that ribosomes help each other out during translation to overcome obstacles. Amazing work jointly led by @MadernMax and @_SoraY biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

What happens when cells stop assemblying nucleosomes during DNA replication? We used CAF-1-degron human cells to answer this question, and look at the immediate effects within a single cell cycle. 🧵⬇️ biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… – at Utrecht, The Netherlands
