This 👇 I feel as passionately about it as @amwilson_opera, and so much of this resonates.

As someone who doesn’t really like either of the popular versions of In the Bleak Midwinter, I can certainly get behind this version.
Possibly the most Cursed Carol to ever Curse. This is it. Our magnum opus. We should just stop here. (We won't.) #CursedCarols

Manchester already has Opera North. The whole reason Opera North was created was as a representation of English National Opera for the North of England . This is so stupid. London needs ENO.

I have deleted my earlier tweet/X [what do we call them now?] about the importance of choral conducting technique. I’ve been reassured that the opinion was a short quote taken out of the wider context of a spoken interview. 1/

The quote’s author passionately believes in choral conducting as a technical art, which is excellent to hear. So many of us in the choral conducting profession are fed up of being compared negatively to orchestral conductors and the article added to that. /2

It’s about time all conductors worked together to put an end to the fallacy that choral conducting is the lesser sibling because it’s less technical. I’m pleased to have had clarification that we are actually on the same page! /ends

Looking forward to this on Saturday with @musicalmark, @AlexAitken91, @scottish_katy and @MKChorale. Featuring Cecilia McDowall’s inspired ‘Da Vinci Requiem’ (2019) along with works by Gesualdo, Ešenvalds, Mvula, Boulanger and a Wondrous Purcellian Machine…

I echo this. It’s fair to say that before rehearsals started I wondered if I’d ‘overdone’ this programme, but wow - a total triumph. S&P is *SO* difficult, but the hard work that everyone put in really paid off. An amazing concert that will be remembered for ages!
Wow. What an evening. Britten's Sacred and Profane is quite an ask on five rehearsals, but what a thrill when it all came together. The key is to find the theatricality in it. And Macmillan's Gallant Weaver and Miserere: spine-tingling. @OxfordProMusica
