My ancestors survived multiple pogroms in Odesa, including that in 1905. Then they survived Lenin, Stalin, all the purges. We left for “The West” in 1976. Now to see university students chant in the streets of US cities anti-Semitic genocidal slogans is surreal. But familiar.

It wasn’t only Cathedral that was ruined tonight in #Odesa - the houses in the neighbourhood r badly damaged too, people are hospitalised.
These buildings were there since the late 19th cent and survived Nazi occupation in 1940s. They didn’t survive Russkiy Mir a century later.
