The Departed was released October 6, 2006. Shot in Massachusetts starring Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, #LeonardoDiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, Martin Sheen and #AlecBaldwin, it won 4 Academy Awards including Best Picture and landed Martin Scorsese his first Best Director Oscar as well.
Pretty crazy that I posted this 5 years ago already. I was watching @DannyCountKoker's Counting Cars on @history from a hospital room thinking I had a breathing problem. Less than 2 months later I had open heart surgery because I had been born with a rare heart defect.
In the hospital for a few days cause of lungs and the ticker. Roommate puts #CountingCars on his T.V. Good call brotherman looks like we won't be battling T.V.s tonight. @DannyCountKoker @HISTORY

Tonight, watch the movie that brought Ian Fleming’s James Bond to the silver screen, and be sure to pour yourself a martini, shaken, not stirred of course 🍸
What’s your favorite Bond film? 🇬🇧

Just watched The Madison. It's embarrassing that #TaylorSheridan shows don't get acting Emmy noms because Michelle Pfeiffer gives one of the best lead TV actress performances of the past ten years. Hell even Will Arnett deserves a guest star nomination for his 2 episodes.

“It was midafternoon, October 3, 1993. Eversmann’s Chalk Four was part of a force of U.S. Army Rangers and Delta Force operators who were about to drop uninvited on a gathering of Habr Gidr clan leaders in the heart of Mogadishu, Somalia.”

I am honored to know some of the men who fought on October 3rd and 4th 1993 in the streets of Mogadishu. It is my sincere hope that more of them will one day tell their stories. The next generation needs heroes.
On 1 October 2021, 18 Army Rangers received Silver Stars for their actions in the battle. In his remarks at the ceremony, General Richard Clarke, former commander of USSOCOM, noted: ““Few missions have left as enduring a legacy as the mission we’re recognizing today...Put this in perspective: 18. Eighteen Silver Stars. Our nation’s third-highest award all being presented for one action, primarily from one company, over one 24-hour period.”

October 2, 1999, Boston Bruins captain Ray Bourque scores his 386th career goal, breaking the NHL record for most goals by a defenseman. He would finish his career with 410 goals, still the all-time record for defensemen. #NHLBruins

On this day in 1835, the first shots of the Texas Revolution were fired at Gonzales. Remembered as the “Lexington of Texas,” the battle was sparked when townspeople refused to return a cannon to Mexican troops. Under the banner “Come and Take It,” their stand marked the opening act of a rebellion that would end in the creation of the Republic of Texas. In honor of this day our ‘Come and Take It’ candle has been reduced to $25 for today only ⭐️
In film history, the royally underrated Mystery, Alaska hit theaters October 1, 1999. The hockey film stars @russellcrowe, @ScottGrimes, @HankAzaria, Kevin Durand, Colm Meaney, Ron Eldard and the late Burt Reynolds. One of the best hockey movies no one talks about.
Christa Pike is a redhead, redheads don't take to anesthesia like normal people. As a half-ginger myself, who's had a couple of major surgeries in the past five years including open heart surgery, I can tell you from personal experience we need to be dosed over and over again.
