BC has worked hard to keep as many small businesses open as possible during the pandemic. The province has not used a "lockdown forever and forget to reopen" approach like Ontario. But this move is going to hurt many BC small firms.

Metro Vancouver restaurants grappling with news that as of midnight they won't be able to have indoor dining - just take out and patio seating until April 19th. @ChefHawksworth stuck with food he can't sell & staff who won't be able to pay rent. @CKNW omny.fm/shows/steele-drex/re…

Some good news for small businesses today. Wage and rent subsidy formulas will stay the same until June and revenue comparisons can continue to be made to pre-pandemic revenue. But so much more still needed. cfib-fcei.ca/en/media/news-r….

A really great example of modernizing regulations, & during Red Tape Awareness Week no less! Thank you @CityofVancouver Mayor and Council! "The regulations that were in existence only allowed neighbourhood grocery stores that had been in operation prior to 1980,"
One of the silver linings of the COVID-19 pandemic has been the push for us to buy local. Now, some new zoning amendments in Vancouver may make that easier to do bit.ly/3pkW3X5

So happy Council passed initial zoning bylaw amendments to allow NEW neighbourhood grocery stores across city in response my #cornerstores motion. Great quick start action. NGS’s build connections and support livable communities. More to come on farm stands, local stores...

If you have a reso for #NewYear, support our local #restaurants by keeping it & having a celebratory drink at home after, or by ordering takeout rather than cancelling. It’s been a tough year for these local #smallbiz. Let’s be there for them so they’ll be there for us in future.

Sad to see @BurgooBistro on West 4th in my old hood packing it in due to high rent and property taxes and these uncertain times. Please support this great local #smallbusiness at their other locations incl Main Street, W. 10th & Downtown. Comfort food at its best.
A final beer at W 4th. Thanks to everyone who has been part of the team these past 10 years and grateful for every guest who joined us for a meal. Hope to see you all again soon at our other locations. 🙏

#BCBuyLocal Week launches today! $63 of every $100 spent local stays local. If we each shift 10% of spending, it creates 14,150 jobs & send $4.3 billion into the BC economy. That's critical to our economic recovery. Let's keep local businesses open.
Visited @melopatisserie. This little piece Paris is a labour of love from owner Melo. New Covid rules are tough on our #smallbusiness. So stop by for some deliciousness & help keep these gems in our neighbourhoods. #MyMountPleasant #ShopLocal #smallbusinesseveryday

Thanks for coming on the show to talk about small business concerns & what they'll hold the newly-elected BC government to account on. Here's the full interview: globalnews.ca/video/7422173/…
Thank you @GlobalBC @NeetuGarcha for having #CFIB on this morning to talk #smallbusiness needs following the election. We're urging the province to expand the SME Recovery Grant & ensure support is in place before further shutdowns are ordered. Now, time for my second coffee.
