"The interns do 70% of the clinical work in our hospitals. That is not because the seniors are absent it is part of the training. There is no patient who will not be seen by me, or under me. But the interns carry 70% of the load. There is no way you can say they should not be paid."

Mental health is not shaped by the mind alone.
It is shaped by housing. Education. Employment. Inequality. Poverty. Social protection.
I believe our response to mental health must move beyond treating illness to transforming the conditions that produce distress.#GlobalHealth

Baguma Richard — Rwatooro — has passed away this evening.
One of his friends called me crying to break the news. I had spoken to him only yesterday, through another friend who was hosting him in Fort Portal; he had lost the password to his number. He seemed to be on the road to recovery. We joked and laughed.
Rwatooro was joyous and optimistic. A mega heart. Boundless energy.
Things of death are painful, random and arbitrary. You cannot make sense of them.
I am speechless. Sad. But I am also grateful I knew such a beautiful soul. God bless his soul.
Baguma was a tireless campaigner for social justice, a healthy environment and good governance.
Very saddened by the sudden passing of a comrade, friend and former student, Baguma Richard Rwatooro. Baguma was an impassioned advocate for justice and public accountability. He pursued constitutionalism and the rule of law with absolute dedication and unyielding might. You would often find him in corridors of various courts pursuing different matters relating to human rights, freedom and liberty. His sudden passing leaves a huge void amongst those who believe in good governance. May his soul rest in peace🙏🏽
