Planned power cuts cost Uganda ~141 million customer hours in 18 months, and ~UGX 186bn in economic value.
UEDCL itself lost just ~UGX 12.6 bn in sales. The economy paid ~15x more.
The utility loses about 7 shillings for every 100 shillings the economy loses.

With a heart weighed down by grief, I announce the passing of my dear mother, Rose Nantongo Kirabo.
There are losses for which language offers no refuge. Today, I have lost the woman whose love gave me my first understanding of life.
My deepest gratitude goes to the dedicated doctors and medical team at the Uganda Cancer Institute for the compassion, dignity and care extended to Mama in her final days.
Funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
