Still laughing at my drafting process for this poem. Often when I look back I can find all sorts of clues to how it began and how it evolved, but here I am pretty much clueless!

I don’t believe Putin is insane. But using exactly the same savage, indiscriminate tactics against Ukraine as he used in distant, hard-to-reach Chechnya & Syria is mad. The atrocities being uncovered now around Kyiv & shown right round the world will at some stage bring him down.

Many vital texts came out on the problems with #westsplaining, coloniality and the denial of a voice, agency & self-determination in debates on Ukraine, Central & Eastern Europe, highlighting the need for anti-imperialist, anticolonial & antipatriarchal debates & politics - a🧵

Under almost any administration - normal or otherwise - it would be a resigning matter…
The Home Secretary said yesterday that a visa centre had already been set up in Calais. This was untrue and under any normal administration that would be a resigning matter.

If you are involved with any literary/academic organization that can help to host Ukrainian writers --should they need a place of refuge--please send me a DM with exact details (I am getting a large flood of emails, to please be exact). Thank you so much for your consideration.

There were times at either end of my 48 days in intensive care when I was lonely and confused, especially after the coma. I didn’t understand (drugs) why Emma or the kids didn’t come in. Good news that Boris and pals were ripping it up though.
