Peregrine lander at 388,000 km from Tucson on Jan. 12, 2024. Object is Visual Magnitude ~18.5. Also got a shot of the Vulcan Centaur heading out to heliocentric space at a distance of 1.085 million km (second video).
Peregrine lander from our telescope in Tucson tonight. The object was 103500 miles from the Earth when we took the pictures. The lander is the small white dot in the middle. The telescope tracked on the lander's motion so stars appear as white dashes.

#Asteroid 2022 YG shows signs of being a quasi-satellite of Earth. @AdrienCoffinet pointed out this relationship now that we have a year's worth of data. It has been in quasi state since 1961 and will remain so until 2181. Kamoʻoalewa is another example of a quasi-satellite.

@NASA’s Lucy spacecraft will fly by its first asteroid this week. To prepare, researchers used data previously collected by the WISE mission (now NEOWISE) to better understand what Lucy might encounter. go.nasa.gov/3QaUBFi

ALT An artist illustration of NASA’s Lucy mission during its upcoming Nov. 1 encounter with asteroid Dinkinesh. The large brown rocky asteroid is centered in the image with the spacecraft approaching it form the right side. The spacecraft has a silver metal body with two large, orange octagon-shaped solar arrays protruding from the top and bottom.

ALT Artist illustration of show the WISE spacecraft overlayed on an image of the infrared sky it observed during its prime mission. The backdrop is filled with blue-green dots of stars and bright red spots representing planets. A blue-green haze creeps in from the lower left corner and upper right, representing light emitted predominantly from stars and galaxies.
