one year of me being pissed about this
Adam Driver reveals he and Steven Soderbergh spent 2 years developing a Kylo Ren standalone movie — “The Hunt for Ben Solo” — but Disney rejected on the project:
“We presented the script to Lucasfilm. They loved the idea,” Driver recalled. “They totally understood our angle and why we were doing it. We took it to Bob Iger and Alan Bergman, and they said no. They didn’t see how Ben Solo was alive. And that was that.”

I remember 1 year ago sitting in my car and scrolling under Adam’s name, as one does, and seeing the original post, confused and in shock, that he tried to bring Ben Solo back! and wondered why no one else had liked or retweeted this bomb yet 😭

we don’t talk enough about how insane it is that LFL can spend $3M on a script, commission concept art, and spend two years developing a movie that all the top brass at LFL was supportive of…all for a single disney businessman to have the power to cancel it.
that’s bleak.

Steven Soderbergh reveals that ‘THE HUNT FOR BEN SOLO’ was the first time Lucasfilm had a finished script that got rejected by Disney.
“I asked Kathy Kennedy if LFL had ever turned in a finished script for greenlight to Disney & had it rejected. She said no, this was a first.”
