Thank you @nighealthwatch .
I wrote an article on the current sickle cell burden in Nigeria and what a national response should look like. I hope this can start a conversation on the issues we need to start focusing on. #worldsicklecellday #sicklecell
Beyond knowing your genotype, does Nigeria have a response that supports those already living with sickle cell?
This #NHWPost by @mobabawale argues that closing the survival gap starts with equitable care & support for Sickle Cell Warriors.

We need to rethink our approach to healthcare.
Too often, healthcare intervenes with treatments too late to help especially with chronic diseases. We need to replace this framework with a personalised, proactive strategy, which is science based and achieves longevity.

Pharmaceutical giants GSK and Sanofi exiting Nigeria is terrible news for access to medicines and healthcare delivery.
The cost of medicines in Nigeria will start rising. This will be a challenge for citizens - especially those who suffer from chronic diseases.

I still hear the word sickler and it needs to stop
I don’t care if you’ve always used it or if you don’t mean it in a bad way.
It’s a slur, it’s dehumanizing and patients hate it. I hate it.
Don’t use it and correct those that do

As we enter #SickleCell Awareness Month, let’s remember that we should be so far beyond Awareness now but we aren’t. We should be beyond begging for resources but we aren’t. We should be beyond scrounging for treatments but we aren’t. This month let’s turn Awareness into Action.

The older you get, the more you figure out who your true friends are. It's not always about who has known you the longest, it's about who makes you feel seen, heard, understood, appreciated, supported, and loved.

The older you get, the more you choose calm over chaos and distance over disrespect. You have absolutely no desire for conflict or drama, and your peace becomes your ultimate priority. You start surrounding yourself with people who are good for your mental health, heart and soul.
This is Amazing work!
Such an incredible #SickleCell patient panel providing so much wisdom for the @BrownMedicine 2nd year medical students
The recurrent theme? Be kind, listen, have compassion, be curious about the lives of your patients. It’s not difficult. ❤️
