Here is the full quote from #BoiseState HC Spencer Danielson.
A donor told him this on the plane. Pretty cool of him to share, we don't get insight like that often.
@BJRains asked a question about the players donating NIL money to great causes, and he shared that answer.
#BoiseState HC Spencer Danielson spoke with the media a short time ago.
One of the best parts of the presser:
The hotel manager where they stayed came up to him and said that this is the most, “respectful, kind, football team he’s ever seen in the 35 years he’s worked there.

A billionaire sat in a room for 42 minutes and listed every psychological trick that makes people lose money. for free. the finance industry has spent thirty years pretending this recording does not exist.
he didn't sell a course. he didn't write a newsletter. he sat in a chair at 96 years old and explained why brilliant people do the dumbest things with their money. then he explained why they will keep doing it.
MBA programs charge $200,000 to teach behavioral finance. he covered 25 biases in one sitting. some of them are still not in any curriculum. he gave the entire framework away on camera.
the part nobody talks about: he called crypto antisocial. he said index funds will crush most managers. he said private equity is full of wretched excess. he said all of this in a room full of people who manage money for a living. nobody argued.
a hedge fund analyst at a top firm told me this is the first thing they send to anyone who joins the desk. not a book. not a model. a 42-minute video of a 96-year-old man explaining why you will be wrong and how to recognize it before it costs you everything.
40 million people have heard his name. almost none of them have watched him explain the 25 ways their own brain is working against them.
the lecture is free. he died the following year. it is in the video.

"If we played them ten times, they might win nine. But not this game, not tonight. Tonight, we skate with them. Tonight we shut them down because we can. Tonight, we are the greatest hockey team in the world."

“The rich are getting richer,” Arnott said. “Vastly so. But, it’s never the same people for long.”
The name Rockefeller, for example, has been synonymous with vast generational wealth going back more than a century. You will not, however, find any Rockefellers on today’s Forbes 400 list of the wealthiest Americans, Arnott observed.
“After a scant 50–100 years, there are no Carnegies or Mellons or Fricks,” he said, “and certainly no Morgans, Vanderbilts, Astors, or du Ponts, where the fortunes date back to the nineteenth century.”

“Day after day dependability. It’s trust. You want to trust each one of your teammates. You earn your teammates trust by your performance and your consistency every day. It’s not like what they can do for you, it’s what you can do for them. You earn it. Nobody can give it to you,” Bill Belichick

But if the y-axis is extended to the NEXT (future) 5-year REAL (after inflation) return, then THERE IS NO EXAMPLE, OVER THE LAST 150 YEARS, OF THE STOCK MARKET BEATING INFLATION OVER THE NEXT 5-YEARS WHEN THE CAPE IS ABOVE 34.
Restated, valuation is an expectation tool. Unless one makes the case that corporate earnings are going to have their most significant surge in history, the stock market is destined to disappoint over the next several years.

Everyone wants the moment.
Few want the monotony.
Greatness is repetition done with intent.
