Scottish school pupils had the rare chance to speak directly to astronauts aboard the International Space Station during a live radio transmission. The event connected pupils at Wick High School with astronauts orbiting hundreds of miles above Earth, giving them the opportunity to ask questions about life and work in space.

1.2m C-Star PC13 intelligence-gathering sail drone built by Oshen in Plymouth has become the first uncrewed sail vessel to cross the Atlantic entirely autonomously with no external inputs. Over 127 days, it covered 2,926 nautical miles (5,400 km), navigating trade winds and busy shipping lanes to win the Microtransat Challenge, the most coveted and elusive prize in maritime autonomy (30 previous attempts by such vessels have failed).
