Mark Zuckerberg published a lengthy letter outlining his thinking on the future of AI, arguing for a broader strategy focused on “individual empowerment” while calling for further regulation by the U.S. government.

Serious question - is there an easy way to update contact details on mobile phones without having to do it individually?
Great to meet with UNHCR High Commissioner Barham Salih @BarhamSalih @Refugees — one of his early engagements in this new tenure.
Our exchange was productive, focused on real solutions for refugees and meaningful support for host communities like The Gambia 🇬🇲. Partnerships like this are where durable solutions get built — not just in policy rooms, but in the communities absorbing displacement day to day.
Committed to turning these conversations into action, for The Gambia and host communities everywhere.

Official Side Event of the United Nations Global Dialogue on AI Governance 2026
Title: AI for Every Mind: Education, Human Agency & Governance
Date: Monday, 6 July 2026 14:15-15:00 (CEST)
Venue: Nations Room G , Palexpo, Geneva, Switzerland
Co-Organizers: World Digital Technology Academy (WDTA), Golden Gate University, ICARUS AI Inc.
Background
Artificial Intelligence is advancing at an unprecedented pace, transforming education, work, public services and everyday life. Around the world, governments are developing AI
strategies and organizations are adopting AI technologies at scale. Yet one fundamental question remains largely unanswered.
Who is preparing people to use AI responsibly?
AI governance is often discussed in terms of regulation, infrastructure and technical
standards. Equally important, however, is the human capability required to understand AI, question its outputs, recognise its limitations and make informed decisions. Without these capabilities, even the most sophisticated governance frameworks cannot achieve their intended impact.
Education is therefore not simply one application of AI. It is the foundation upon which trustworthy AI governance must be built.
This session brings together leaders from academia, international organizations and industry to explore how education can strengthen human agency, foster AI literacy and prepare individuals and institutions to participate confidently in an AI-enabled future.
The discussion follows a simple but powerful progression:
AI Access → AI Literacy → Human Agency → Responsible AI Governance

Happy Father’s Day to my beloved father, Imām Alhagie Serieng Modou Kah (Rakey) , Radiya Allāhu ’anhu, of Amdalai Village and Medina Serienge Mass Kah, North Bank of The Gambia.
A Sheikh, an Imam, a Khalifa, a Father, Uncle, Brother, Grand Father, Spiritual leadership and above all, my father.
His guidance shaped not just our family, but a whole community he led with wisdom, kindness, mindfulness, generosity, empathy and grace.
Since he returned to his Lord - The Almighty Allah SWT, in July 2016 (almost 10 years ago), his absence is still felt — but so is everything he gave us.
May Allah grant him Jannah and continue to reward him for every soul he guided toward the light.
Rest well, Baaba. We carry you with us always. 🤲🏽
#INSIGHTFUL #UN CSTD Working Group on Data Governance #Progress
Two days of rich engagement at the UN CSTD Working Group on Data Governance have closed — and I’m honored to have served as Vice Chair-Amb.Prof.Muhammadou M.O.Kah #TheGambia 🇬🇲(representing State Members) through this milestone convening.
Established under the Global Digital Compact mandate (UN GA Resolution 79/1), the Working Group is tasked with preparing data governance recommendations for the 81st UN General Assembly.
Data is now central to economic transformation, scientific progress, and digital societies — but without equitable, interoperable, trusted cross-border governance frameworks, we risk deepening global inequalities and excluding many countries from the data economy.
This matters even more for AI. Data governance is the foundation of AI governance: how data is collected, accessed, shared, and safeguarded shapes model reliability, explainability, rights protections, interoperability, and security — the building blocks of safe, trustworthy AI.
This convening also carries personal significance. Following the passing of our founding Chair, Peter Major, I stepped up from Vice Chair to Interim Chair, before handing over to Ambassador Patriota and returning to my Vice Chair role. A privilege to help steward this Working Group’s continuity, and to honor Peter’s memory through the work we continue.
Deep appreciation to:
→ Ambassador Guilherme de Aguiar Patriota, PR of Brazil and our Chair, for his steady leadership
→ Claire Melamed, my fellow Vice Chair (Non-State Members), for true partnership
→ Every Member State and non-state actor, in person and online, who shaped our discussions
→ Our volunteer drafters and reviewers, whose zero-draft chapters gave us a strong foundation
→ ITU, for hosting us and for their continued partnership with UN CSTD and this Working Group
Grateful for the collective will to keep building data governance frameworks that work for everyone.
🇬🇲🇺🇳
