This made me giggle. There are definitely some fields in Iowa that will need it this year but I doubt we’ll get around to it with the weather we’re having!
It be like that sometimes🤷🏻 #farming #humor

It was a gorgeous plot harvest day today! Collecting grain samples in each plot was an adventure and I’ll surely be finding soybean residue remnants in my hair and clothes for days. #ISUCrops

This field is hanging on for harvest (some pods just barely). I hope some of the poor seed will get blown out of the combine. #ISUCrops

The next few weeks should be interesting here in Iowa. SBOC and damage at levels like we haven’t seen in several years. #ISUCrops Resources: ➡️ crops.extension.iastate.edu/… ➡️ crops.extension.iastate.edu/… ➡️ blog-crop-news.extension.umn…

We deserve this!
The nicest weather in the USA today will be in and around Sioux Falls, SD, Omaha, NE, and Des Moines, IA.

Soybean seed diseases are showing up in Iowa, which isn’t surprising with the wet weather. Recent rain is a double whammy for farmers as it favors fungal development and keeps combines from getting in the field. Read more at crops.extension.iastate.edu/…. @soydisease @ISUExtension

We think about grain quality with corn, but don’t forget soybeans. Purple seed stain and Diaporthe seed decay are two diseases that are been showing up. crops.extension.iastate.edu/… @dsmuelle

Are you considering a late alfalfa cutting? Wet conditions have delayed harvest, but winter survival matters most. Check out ICM's new blog on alfalfa cutting in these conditions before making your decision. Read at go.iastate.edu/4MVKGK #Alfalfa #Harvest #Extension #IowaAg

I am hoping we’re not in for too bumpy a ride at harvest, but the leaning soybean and lodged corn already on Sept. 24 isn’t inspiring a lot of optimism. More rain to come. #ISUCrops crops.extension.iastate.edu/…

Keep an eye out for Asian copperleaf this harvest season! This weed was first found in Iowa 10 years ago and is now in multiple counties and continues to spread. Learn more about how to identify and report this weed at go.iastate.edu/GVSRBJ @mjanders1 @IAStateWeedSci

Agree! Watch for suspicious looking amaranths this time of year as well! Palmer will have females with sharp spines on the inflorescences, and longer, thicker inflorescences than waterhemp!
Same could be said for Palmer amaranth

Now through crop harvest is the easiest time of year to identify Asian copperleaf in crop fields. Keep an eye out for this species! #ISUCrops crops.extension.iastate.edu/…

Decided to relive my youth and repeat my ‘Western Iowa Palmer amaranth Tour*’ after a five year hiatus. Palmer was thriving at two locations, hanging on at one, and absent at two.

Tis the season for winter annual germination with every new rainfall event. This field has a growing common chickweed population. Fall herbicide applications after harvest can be a good way to get ahead of these issues if you can’t get to them in the spring! #ISUCrops
