Now through crop harvest is the easiest time of year to identify Asian copperleaf in crop fields. Keep an eye out for this species! #ISUCrops

Now is a great time to get out and do yield estimates/ check on kernel development. One thing that has been noted in fields this growing season is incomplete kernel set on some ears. To better understand what factors may have caused this, check out: crops.extension.iastate.edu/…

Yesterday I took some time to scout fields with known Asian Copperleaf infestations. Both sites seemed to have decent post-applied herbicide control, but the next flush is already emerging. It just keeps germinating!

It seems like our POST herbicides worked really well this year, but that won’t stop some of these big ones from coming back. Waterhemp is a tough weed to keep down. #ISUCrops

Q: How does 2,4‑D work? A: First, it overstimulates growth; next it forces stomata to close, stopping photosynthesis. Eventually the plant wastes energy detoxifying free radicals and starves to death. There’s more—want to dive deeper? buff.ly/pMDDG9z #herbicide

A great visual on the effect of wind and physical drift on herbicide movement and off target injury. Applications have been made in windy weather this year to try to catch up to weeds. It doesn't take much of some herbicides to show significant injury symptoms.
