30 days of thinking more deeply about programming. The biggest lesson? Learning syntax makes you a programmer. Understanding trade-offs makes you an engineer. Still learning. Still building.

If you’re a software engineer, please ignore the noise about AI replacing engineers and double down on data, platform and infra related engineering. This means your fundamentals need to be solid.

Moniepoint UK Limited, the UK subsidiary of fintech unicorn @moniepoint Inc., made $36,284 in revenue in 2025, according to annual reports filed with UK regulators. The company said the figure represents one month of activity after migrating customers of its diaspora remittance product, MonieWorld, to the entity in December. The figures show how MonieWorld was a small part of Moniepoint’s wider business as it moved to establish a regulated presence in the UK. Its phased exit from the UK remittance market comes as competition for diaspora transfers intensifies, with providers such as LemFi and Sendwave competing on fees, exchange rates, and transfer speed. I’ve learned to pay attention to the reasoning behind an implementation, not just the result. Why this approach? What problem does it solve? What happens when the requirements change? Can another developer understand and maintain it? Because writing code that works is important, but understanding the decisions behind that code is what helps you build better systems. Don’t just make it work. Understand what you’re building. #BackendEngineering #SoftwareEngineering
