As a result, in #Tigray region the #TPLF forces (#TDF) have issued statements warning that #Ethiopian Airlines (@flyethiopian), and Mekelle airport, could be legitimate military targets.
#Ethiopian Airlines is reportedly transporting #ENDF troops, weapons and ammunition to #Tigray aboard civilian aircraft.
Circulating video footage has raised concerns over the use of commercial airliners for military deployments and arms transfers.
🛑 Upholding Sovereign Borders: Washington Rebuffs Addis Ababa’s Maritime Overreach 🇪🇷 🇺🇸 🇪🇹
Eritrea’s adherence to international law and territorial inviolability is the sole stabilizing anchor along the Red Sea. For three years, the regime in Addis Ababa has advanced a manufactured "sea access" pretext to justify expansionism along sovereign Eritrean coastlines.
Washington's position, articulated by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, directly checks this escalation:
🔴 Enforcing Territorial Integrity: The U.S. explicitly mandated that all regional states must respect sovereign borders and strictly avoid cross-border incursions.
🟡 Exposing Maritime Pretexts: "Sea access" cannot override international law; sovereign Eritrean ports and territorial waters are non-negotiable.
🟣 Containing Domestic Fallout: Facing collapse from internal conflicts across Amhara, Tigray, and Oromia, Addis Ababa’s attempts to export its crisis across regional borders have stalled.
🟢 Preventing Regional Contagion: With conflicts already tearing through Sudan, Somalia, and Yemen, halting cross-border adventurism is critical to preventing a wider regional conflagration.
"International law is not a suggestion—sovereignty is absolute, and borders cannot be redrawn through coercion."
Regional stability requires checking unilateral aggression, respecting littoral sovereignty, and ending cross-border adventurism. 🕊️⚡

The Tigray Defense Forces (TDF) issued a stern warning yesterday to passengers traveling to Tigray on Ethiopian civilian airlines. The concern is that, as shown, Abiy Ahmed’ use Mekelle and Adwa airports for military purposes. Similar concerns apply to the Amhara region.

Ethiopian army’s laughable propaganda shows no sign of slowing down. Ethiopia, the most loyal customer of Iranian-made drones in the region, is now parading its own weapons as if they belonged to the enemy. YIHA-III drones shown to diplomats as “captured from the TPLF” actually belong to the Ethiopian army itself. Jointly produced by Türkiye and Pakistan, these drones were delivered directly from Pakistan to Ethiopia last year. Unfortunately for them, @FCB6O tracked that cargo flight step by step a year ago as it flew from Karachi to Harar Meda Air Base in Bishoftu.
The evidence is clear: the shipment went to the Ethiopian army, not to Tigray. While trying to fool diplomats, Addis Ababa got caught in its own lie.

#Eritrea: Ministry of Foreign Affairs Urges AU to Restore Eritrea’s Representation at its Headquarters
(Similar Letter Sent to UNECA)
*"... The decision of the Ethiopian Government - to expel Eritrea's Permanent Representative and the entire diplomatic staff assigned to participate in the AU - constitutes a grave violation of the Constitutive Act; and, the Headquarters Agreement between the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the African Union...".
*"... In light of the foregoing, Eritrea urges the policy organs of the AU to take immediate corrective measures to restore Eritrea's rightful representation at the Headquarters of the Union to ensure its full participation in the activities of the Union as a sovereign and equal member, in strict adherence to the Constitutive Act; the Headquarters Agreement; and, the General Convention".
(The Letter also underlines that Ethiopia had in fact closed, without any formal announcement, its Embassy in Eritrea much earlier on 8 August 2026).

Dear @USEmbassyAddis
I am writing regarding reports that a U.S. defense attaché or embassy representative attended a recent guided tour of munitions displayed by #Ethiopia|n authorities as “seized” from TDF/TPLF positions in Mekelle.
Open-source analysis (including @AfriMEOSINT) has identified the site as a former ENDF warehouse captured by TDF forces in 2021. Many of the items shown appear consistent with previously lost Ethiopian stocks rather than newly supplied foreign weapons. Of particular note, shipping labels on crates displayed to foreign attachés list “PORT OF DESTINATION: Asmara, Eritrea” (along with consignee TDANA and a contract number). Asmara is not a seaport; Eritrea’s main ports are Massawa and Assab. These labeling errors, combined with the site’s documented history as a former ENDF warehouse captured in 2021, show that the presentation is fabricated and does not reflect the actual origin or status of the material.
As you know, this comes at a critical moment. Ethiopian officials have increasingly advanced claims and staged presentations that appear aimed at justifying efforts to seize Eritrean ports by force and undermine Eritrea’s territorial sovereignty. Neither the region nor the broader international community can afford another conflict in the Red Sea area.
At the same time, Ethiopia remains engulfed in multiple internal conflicts that are expected to intensify in the coming months as various armed groups strengthen coordination. Accurate information on arms flows and the situation on the ground is essential.

Could the Embassy, and more broadly the State Department’s Bureau of African Affairs, clarify whether U.S. personnel participated in this tour and what assessment, if any, was made of the displayed items and their documented provenance?
Thank you.
