@Brave's research and security folks in our London office built a power lab, BLaDE, with a high-sensitivity digital power meter / supply wired up to test phones in place of pulled batteries. Excellent work, chaps! Here's a pic, with labels. "...only ever gonna be one Blade!"
If you care about performance, Brave should be your browser. We tested Brave for desktop against Chrome, Edge and Firefox and found that Brave is faster, uses less energy, consumes less CPU and memory, and transfers less data.

The CEO of Brave, @BrendanEich, has called on Apple and Mozilla to add Brave Search as a default option among the list that's in the search engine picker. Google has already done this on Chrome. While you can still add a custom search engine on Firefox, Safari offers no such choice. The CEO emphasizes how it's not very user-friendly to restrict options like this, since it promotes a duopoly. Good on Google adding Brave Search to Chrome's global default search engines list so Chrome users can switch to Brave Search in settings. Safari should do the same. Listing only Google, Bing, three Bing-skins does not support user choice vs. duopoly. Firefox should do this too.

@Brave grew to over 122M Monthly Active Users and 51M DAU in July 2026. Brave Search joined Chrome's global default search engine list. All browsers see a "summer slump," but our growth was stronger than past years, in part thanks to the World Cup driving new user growth. 1/4

Agents are getting supervisors for safety, security, and privacy. We introduced a novel one for efficiency, because wasted battery isn't just wasteful — it creates real frustration and anxiety for users, especially on mobile devices where battery anxiety is already a real concern

Our latest work, @brave's AgentStop, will be presented today by Dzung Pham at the new @CAISconf in San Jose, California! If you're attending, stop by and chat with Dzung to learn more. Joint work with Dzung Pham, @AliShahinShams1 and Hamed Haddadi
Local AI agents protect your privacy by keeping inference and data processing on your own device This privacy comes at a cost: higher battery usage. Agentic workflows use far more resources than typical LLM interactions, even on failed tasks. To fix this, we built AgentStop.

How do you know that your AI chats aren't being logged? How do you know a chatbot is using the model it claims? Brave will soon give you a way to verify these claims.

@Brave passed 100M Monthly Active Users (MAU) in September 2025. DAU grew faster, past 42M. Blog post at brave.com/blog/100m-mau/. Brave Search at 1.66B Queries Per Month (QPM) annualizes to 19.49B QPY. Non-Brave-browser search users grew 10% in September (7.60% → 8.36%). 1/4

LLMs can memorize and leak sensitive training data, posing serious privacy risks. Brave researchers have developed a new open-source method to detect this memorization and information leakage. 🧵
