They also talked about “Fortified Firefox.” It is not a separate browser. It would live inside normal Firefox, but the UI is undecided.

They were open that Chromium still has an edge in some process isolation. Firefox is working on “Wasmboxing” and better isolation on mobile. They also expect the wave of LLM-discovered bugs to stabilize over time.
Firefox isn't just volunteer maintained. Dedicated engineers ship fixes every two weeks.
Finding and patching a high number of issues is a good sign, not a bad one. For full admin control, Mozilla points users to Firefox Enterprise.
Firefox’s security team held an AMA on Reddit and answered more than 30 questions. A few of the clearer points were about AI coding, how Firefox compares to Chromium, and fingerprinting.
On AI-assisted coding, the team said the same review rules continue to apply. One developer owns the patch, a second reviews it, and both are expected to fully understand the code.
AI is treated more like a tool, and not a complete shortcut.

Firefox is testing a way to show when you last visited a website
Mozilla is testing a small Firefox address bar change that shows when you last visited or bookmarked a page, right inside search suggestions. It is available in Firefox Nightly.
Hover over a suggestion, or highlight it with the keyboard, and a timestamp appears on the right.
Mozilla’s research found that people often forget older pages and assume the browser is pushing random links.
The team plans to ship it with "on" by default, because “features that are off by default are rarely discovered by the people that need them.”

Microsoft Edge could eliminate one of the biggest annoyances with browser updates
Microsoft is experimenting with a seamless update system for Edge that installs new versions in the background without forcing a restart.
Right now, Edge downloads an update and then asks you to close and reopen the browser. That is one reason people delay updates. Since Edge moved to a two-week release cycle in August, those prompts have been showing up twice as often.
With the prototype, Microsoft says Edge “moves the browser to a new, more secure version while your open work continues, with no restart prompt and hardly anything to notice.”
It works by downloading the update quietly and switching the main browser controls first. The open tabs continue running on the older version until you click a link or load a new page. Then, they jump to the updated version.
Microsoft says this “is not in production code or part of Chromium today.” The team is only sharing the early prototype.

OpenAI rolls out major Chrome extension upgrade with tab control and browser automation
The ChatGPT Chrome extension can now read your open tabs and act on web pages. Before this, it mostly felt like a chatbot that was... stuck on the side of the browser.
There are two modes. In Chat, you can ask it to look across open tabs and answer questions. You can ask it to compare prices or product sizes from several stores without copying links back and forth. In Work, it can do more: fill out forms, download files, send messages, or group a mess of tabs.
Work mode needs at least a Plus subscription.

Google Chrome is finally getting a native "Copy Link(s)" tool for tabs and groups
It lets you grab the addresses of an entire tab group, or several selected tabs, in one click.
For example: You open a bunch of tabs, group them, then want to paste the links into Gemini or ChatGPT.
Right now that means clicking each tab, copying the address, switching over, and pasting. A Google engineer noted that eight tabs is about forty interactions for information that the browser already has.
Chrome users currently rely on extensions for this. They also take a lot of permissions.
Chrome’s design team initially pushed back because they did not want to clutter the menu, but after noting that Safari and Arc already let you copy group links natively, they agreed to test it behind a feature flag and monitor the usage.

Google and Mozilla collaborate to bring native split view control to extensions
Google announced it as a collaboration with Mozilla and other browser vendors in the WebExtensions Community Group.
Instead of workarounds like embedding pages in frames or resizing separate windows, the API works directly with the browser’s tab system. It's inside the standard browser.tabs namespace and does not require any extra manifest permissions.
That basically means fewer permission warnings for users.
Developers can open a new side-by-side tab without needing to go through website security headers.

AdGuard nears release of AdGuard Mini for Android as early beta bugs get squashed
AdGuard is now close to releasing the stable version of AdGuard Mini for Android. After weeks of testing, a company social media manager said on Reddit that the team is “on the home stretch, polishing every detail.” Early testers helped fix a lot of bugs from the initial test build.
For those unaware, AdGuard Mini is a major overhaul of the old AdGuard Content Blocker on the Play Store. That app has over 10 million downloads, but it only worked inside Samsung Internet and Yandex Browser. Regular Chrome users were left out.
The new setup skips these limitations. After the welcome screen, it walks you through free DNS protection that covers all browsers and apps through a local VPN. You are not locked to AdGuard’s servers.
You can also pick Google DNS, Cloudflare, OpenDNS, or Quad9.
It also adds a built-in video player for watching YouTube without ads.
