This is what treachery looks like. Donald Trump openly siding with Putin while attacking allies. Treason-adjacent behavior.
Trump doesn't care about peace. His motives are to stave off potentially disastrous Republican losses in the midterm elections and avoid facing a Democratic-controlled Congress that might actually offer real opposition and investigate him and his associates.
I suspect his other motives are pecuniary. His administration's negotiations with Russia have already included a proposed multibillion-dollar Lukoil deal involving investors with business ties to his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and Steve Witkoff's family. There have also been discussions of broader commercial cooperation with Russia.
At no point in these remarks does Trump mention wanting to constrain Putin or prevent further deaths in Ukraine, choosing instead to attack Zelenskyy.
Historians will remember Trump as one of the three worst presidents in U.S. history, possibly vying for last place with James Buchanan, whose inaction during the secession crisis helped pave the way for the Civil War.

Ukraine can't destroy Gazprom's pipelines because doing so inconveniences German consumers.
Ukraine can't hit Russian refineries because that inconveniencs US consumer.
Russia, on the other hand, can destroy Ukraine's energy grid because it inconveniences no one.

PS I’ve met Putin many times and listened in on calls with him as well. I also speak Russian. Yes he is soft spoken, deliberate, and measured. So what? He’s still a killer. He still launched a barbaric invasion of Ukraine, that has produced tragic loss of life not seen on this scale in Europe since WWII.

🚨 WOW. This clip of Marco Rubio needs to be watched in its entirety. Rubio makes a series of stunning admissions about Ukraine's access to Starshield while taking a swipe at President Zelenskyy over restrictions that are hampering Ukraine's ability to defend itself.
RUBIO: “It's not at this moment available to Ukraine, and that's under conversation.”
Rubio CONFIRMS Ukraine does NOT have access to the U.S. military's StarShield system, despite requesting it to carry out deep strikes inside Russia.
“They've asked for access to it in order to conduct deep strikes inside of Russia. They do not have access to it at this moment.”
When pressed about Zelenskyy's claim that Starlink restrictions were deliberately imposed, Rubio attacks the Ukrainian president:
“I'm not sure Zelensky knows what he's talking about.”
Rubio then insists the White House had nothing to do with the restrictions, but offers a remarkable explanation for how they occurred:
“Nobody ordered that Starlink speed to be slowed down. It sort of happened.”
Rubio also claims the restrictions have been lifted, despite Zelenskyy saying they REMAIN in place and revealing that Ukraine conducted tests showing Starlink worked at higher speeds in the EU than in Ukraine.
And when asked about the disruptions, Rubio admits his information is based on what he read and heard two days earlier:
“That's what I read, you know, that's what we heard two days ago.”

Most of the Russian budget goes toward investments in weapons or the military.
They will reach 1.5 million military personnel.
So if the war ended tomorrow, what would Putin do with 1.5 million soldiers?
He himself would face internal problems if he stopped the war tomorrow morning.
And this gives me the impression, since he continues to accelerate, that he would not want to stop in Ukraine.
This is Europe's concern, especially the concern of the Eastern European countries closest to Russia.
