Not bad for a 9 minute miler

Didn’t show enough interest in a parkrun challenge thing this morning. My main focus is always on getting the volunteers sorted and putting on a safe 5k especially when it’s starting to rain and all my kit is getting wet!

Had to have a gamble at Barnstable to see if I could get under the 3:02 GFA time. Not enough time / specific training after Lakeland to get in top form. Held on for 17 miles but the motivation went in the last 6. Need to sort out my 5 & 10k as it’s a weak link.

Many long runs spent laughing out loud to this. Especially Peter Beardsley.

Nearly every one of the 100 fastest 10,000m runners was born inside a single 1,000km circle over Ethiopia and Kenya.

Remember when Edwin Moses was a sweet hurdling bastard? Motherfucker won 122 races in a row jumping over shit while looking like a founding member of Earth, Wind & Fire. We were witnesses.

It’s not just me that goes A over T on the trails. I’m definitely in good company.

« Je me suis dit : c’est fini » : Blandine L’Hirondel a cru que sa chute à 7 km de l’arrivée allait lui coûter la victoire à l’UTMB, comme elle nous l'a expliqué ce dimanche au lendemain de sa victoire. L'interview complète est à retrouver sur le site et l'application L'Équipe.

First 10k road race in over 3 years. Had forgotten how to pace these well. A good workout but a lack of specific training is evident. Can’t really blag this distance like you can on a 5k. 🥵 Enjoyed the social side of things.

Having a tidy up of kit after Lakeland and find these in the bottom of the running cupboard. Forgot I’d picked up a spare pair when they stopped making them.

Novice runners tend to go too hard on the easy days and too easy on the hard days. Same thing occurs in the office. We spend too much time, energy and effort on emails, meetings, etc. We don't block off enough time for the deep work that leads to actual progress and growth.

250th volunteer day at parkrun this morning. (140 as Run Director) 11 years of,what has felt like, herding cats at times but also met some amazing people and made many lifelong friends.

11:14:01 (official) That was a tough day out. Really underestimated the difficulty underfoot and the length of the hills. I’m more used to shorter sharper stuff of the SWCP. 181st at 10 miles & got myself up to 141 at 45 but struggled on the last downhill to finish in 156th

A little undertrained and still overweight but have packed all my Lakeland 50 kit for next weekend. A combination of rolling my ankle, a week’s holiday and the World Cup have left a gap in the miles. Will have to rely on experience and enjoy the scenery 📸🏞️
