It's worth reading Macklemore's full letter regarding how Robert Kraft, owner of Gillette Stadium, pressured Ed Sheeran to cancel Macklemore, and how Sheeran caved to this pressure, despite 1) his decade-long friendship with Macklemore, and 2) how Sheeran had no problem eschewing "neutrality" when it came to Ukraine.
What this shows is exactly what @EliClifton and Ian Lustick write about in their new book "Israel's Lobby: America in the Grip of a Foreign Power."
It's no longer just about how Israel or pro-Israeli elements push US foreign policy in a direction that undermines US national security (such as starting a disastrous war with Iran).
It's now also about how these elements constitute a direct threat to the freedom of speech of ordinary Americans, and as a result, a threat to American democracy.

Gloria Steinem was used in Western Europe to stage American-style democracy and market discipline against socialists. That she died an honorary chair of the Democratic Socialists of America is not a paradox. It is a joke. counterpunch.org/2026/09/09/…

⚡ 68 lightning flashes PER MINUTE.
That’s what we measured at the peak of Thursday night’s violent DC storm — more than one flash per second. A typical thunderstorm peaks near 10 per minute.
Add 60-70 mph wind gusts and blinding rain, and this was no ordinary storm.
We dug into the data to explain exactly why it became so intense — and whether it was a derecho:

In my interview w/ @ChrisVanHollen, I brought up the decades-long bipartisan failure in Congress to restrain executive war powers thru the War Powers Act.
I asked him about his support for the Libya intervention in 2011, which the Obama admin argued did not meet the definition of hostilities.

Something else I've been mulling re: my convo w/ Robert Kagan for @RStatecraft:
Given the amount of ground I hoped to cover, I didn't want to sink the entire interview into a relitigation of the Iraq War, even though it's a major part of Kagan's legacy in addition to one of the worst calamities in the history of U.S. foreign policy. But one point I wish I had emphasized in response to his claims was that the Saddam threat was inflated (by folks like him).
Folks within the Bush admin had serious reservations about the certainty of the WMD intelligence, given that sources like the notorious Curveball were highly unreliable. Those doubts were suppressed in favor of a faulty public case for war.
