I have my critiques of No Kings-style protests but as it happens I actually know some of the “boomer” activists in this video and it’s worth noting they spend countless hours doing immigrant activist work; bringing them food, diapers, helping them with school forms, etc.
For the past three years, Israel has killed around 22,000 Palestinian children–that’s one child in Gaza every 71 minutes, including 5,444 children under five and 1,125 babies under one year old. counterpunch.org/2026/10/16/…
American polls show record levels of angst, fear, and deep concern about America’s present and future. counterpunch.org/2026/10/16/…
A disturbing parallel has become visible between the daily militarized violence inflicted on Palestinians and the lethal enforcement tactics deployed by federal immigration authorities on residential streets in America. counterpunch.org/2026/10/16/…
It’s not an idle threat that we may need to cut back or, heaven forbid, stop publishing altogether. counterpunch.org/2026/10/16/…
We should tax things that we want less of. That’s why we have big taxes on cigarettes, alcohol, and gambling. These are all things where most of us agree we would be better off with less.
The same story applies to vacant properties. counterpunch.org/2026/10/15/…

Fake numbers and disinformation roll off the presidential tongue like spittle, from diesel prices and war costs to inflation and the cost of living. counterpunch.org/2026/10/15/…
This White House is far out of its depth and completely overwhelmed by disasters — large and small — of its own making. counterpunch.org/2026/10/15/…
As the European Heads of State meet this week, the war between Russia and Ukraine is raging on and is in danger of reaching a point of no return.
The fact that the conflict is further escalating is the result of two serious miscalculations. counterpunch.org/2026/10/15/…
The last official public execution in the US was in 1936, when Rainey Bethea, a young black man, was hanged in Owensboro, Kentucky, before a crowd of 20,000 people. counterpunch.org/2026/10/14/…
“All our choices were made to reflect and confront us in the present. Not to say, ‘Look what they did then,’ rather ‘Look what we do now.’ Our film shows where dehumanization leads at its worst. It shaped all of our past and present." counterpunch.org/2026/10/14/…

Virtually without exception, the data have gotten worse under Trump. Inflation has risen; nominal wage growth has slowed. Factory construction has plummeted. The trade deficit, which he views as a central measure of economic failings, has soared. counterpunch.org/2026/10/13/…
In order for something to qualify as a “scandal,” it has to allege conduct that’s corrupt beyond the ordinary or expected.
The only thing extraordinary about the self-enriching conduct of the Trump crime family is that it’s all done right out in the open. counterpunch.org/2026/10/13/…
It’s great that the AI companies can keep the conversation on whether their tech is sentient or not when its main function so far is to expand the surveillance state and maximize state power, whether that’s with the police, ICE, or the military.
New: an AI company now lets cops identify specific houses, using data from Zillow/Airbnb, based on a single photo. It's part of Raven, previously called Geospy. Company previously demoed its tools to catch people vandalizing Flock cameras or protesters

The Trump administration has essentially neutered all National Security agencies and created something far worse: the appointment of unqualified individuals with loyalty to Trump. counterpunch.org/2026/10/12/…

As a feminist who applies the principles of intersectionality to my analysis of political and social issues, I have been greatly troubled with the feminists around me who are either silent about the genocide in Gaza or silence those who speak out about it. counterpunch.org/2026/10/09/…
